I had a surprise visitor Saturday. This man had scholarship offers from the best colleges out there as a sophomore in high school.4.4 speed 6ft3 around 235 just a natural running back.Great vision.I always keep some extra logs around because when he comes by he wants to split wood and drink my beer lol.He is a beast with a maul. When he first started he relied on power.I slowed him down some and showed him where to hit the wood and keep his eye on that spot all the way through .He is a beast.

Most everything is technique. My son brought a kid home a few years back and he could jack a baseball all over the park. And all out of the park too. He struggled with a maul. I rode him pretty hard about being a 'wuss' most of the afternoon. Once he got the hang of it he could bust wood with the best of them.

The 'age and treachery will always over come youth and skill' applied here. They were both constantly outdoing one another as I ragged on both. Every fifth or sixth piece I would bust and 'show' them how easy it was to do, and how they just didn't have th gonads to bust wood. I am not sure what was faster my wood pile or the over flow of testosterone.

End of the afternoon I had enough wood for three or four pigs. I maybe busted ten pieces.

We must be living parallel lives.

I took a picture yesterday of the tree line that just about matches the one you posted some time back. I will try to post it later this evening.

    Bama,

This is the path we live on with the planted pones on the other side of the road. The path is about a little more than an 1/8th of a mile to the pavement.

In the summer when the sapling trees are green it looks a lot like the one you posted some time back.

The only thing I wish I had done differently was if the cabin could be a little further from the house.

But that is not all that big of a deal.
