favorite staffords

what was wrong with the ruby cross, forgive the ignorance , but staffords are not my strong point.

Nothing wrong with that cross to Ruby,but in my opinion it would be mostly down to the two sires she was bred to.
Ruby's littermate brother was a real good stafford,which is not debatable.

A lot of lads did offload their staffords to make room & help pay for them bulldogs.
I'm one of them lads who believe the staffords could NOT give as good as the bulldogs. Why flog a dead horse & fall behind in the competition ?
I think the only lads who stopped with the stafford would have been doing so for a sentimental reason,or they didn't have the bucks to invest in the bulldogs. When 1st introduced the prices were far from cheap & most lads formed a syndicate who would chip in,so to speak & pups could be kept back between them,to run on. For instance a pool of 5 lads could buy a dog for £500 at a 5th of the cost.
The bulldogs were 1st introduced in 76 ? Psycho,Duke etc were in the 80's so there was still lads carrying on. To this day,there is still kennels out there who believe they have staffords worth feeding. I'm not going to argue with them.
I have a pic of the 1st stafford (allegedly) to have been put across a bulldog in the UK & also pix of the offspring. This was before Reid introduced the dogs. Were these crosses part of the working staffords going around in the 70's & therefore behind some of the dogs today ? I don't know.
At the same time there is lads who moved over to the bulldogs & regretted it so so much.
You probably know an helluva lot more truth than me.
ps i've never heard a bad word said on that stafford you have put a pic up of above.

Used only once at stud when i asked & that wasn't a stafford.
In all honesty that yard never got the credit they deserved for their work with the dogs.

going by what you lads are saying deffiantly dont sound like they should be posted public, was it the owners choice? Id be pissed of big time if not. Any chance of pming them wouldnt mind seeing thought he was a nice stafford.

Did he not produce anything or have any articles written up?
