Following up with the questions of Zebo's production record, I was thinking about all of the factors that could have contributed to his prepotency to produce and that of his offsprings as well. When Zebo was at stud he was bred to almost every line avaliable as alot of folks thought he would add the Ace factor to their yard (which is highly regarded as a myth in experienced breeders). Now we all know that not every outcross will produce regardless of how good the bitch and stud are as individuals, do you think that maybe that factors into his production, being that some litters would have been bragged about as puppies and expectations would have been raised based on Zebo's record in the box. I know their was quite a buzz around the dog and im sure many who bred to Zebo were talking big "You just wait a couple of years cleetus and ill have the best dogs in america", next thing you know the early starters have been ruined, the teasing begins from his buddies, the excuses start and the blame must fall on Zebo. "Fuck you Cleetus that Zebo dont produce nuttin but curs", and the rumors begin...

It couldnt have been the fault of the dummy who's own fatal flaw was starting good dogs to early, NEVER!!! Must have been Zebo's fault (rolls eyes)

The dog produced when bred correctly in the correct hands. It still does today in the N.Toby dogs and the Panther dogs as well as the crosses done in the midwest. The Reminents of R.Berry's dogs and others from the midwest still work period.

I know some Hughes gator fans that do fine with it and very well with it crossed to Eli blood.

Nothing is online but I do know they crossed it with Cardenas Shorty/Firemans Rusty and the result was some real serious Bulldogs. Maybe search offspring down from Rusty, they may have added peds since the last I spoke with them a few years back.

Is the dog you are referring to NGK known as Thunder kennels Gator?

They had several bred that way, not to sure what the actual names were, all I remember was the foundation was Hughes Gator and Elvis II female under a Cardenas Shorty/Firemans Rusty Male. They had plans to breed it both directions if enough of the offspring worked out and they were having good success so I assume they are still working with it. Its been quite some time since I have been in contact with them. They were located in the Pac West right on the coast, they had several lines and crosses.

here is an on going example....got two out of a repeat breeding...1st breeding warranted the second...the female could very make ROM in the near future...the male is as solid as they come....been out there real deep on numerous occasions...i have a male that was born without toes on the back leg....has a dew claw and a full pad...but a nub in the place of toes and toe nails...he has no idea he is deformed....i made the decision to keep him and raise him just as i would if he were normal...he will get every chance any other bulldog would get....i understand he will never be a mill runner or a weight puller but he can still be a bulldog....tons of brood dogs out there with no teeth due to bad habits but still a heck of a bulldog and have went on to produce....so my thought process is let them have a chance to be a bulldog then let the fatal flaw be the fact they are or are not a bulldog...US1

Only need a dog and bitch pup to survive in a proven mating................ Half would usually get culled any how.

I think we all agree that flaws in working dogs aren't proven by what you see but how the dog performs. In the spirit of the thread though what are some physical flaws you would most like to avoid if everything else is correct in the dog?

exactly, a pitbull terrier is not a show dog, you don't breed for that. and if you do, your taking away from the true american pitbull terrier and what they are. for hundreds of years these dogs have been built to what they are today and if someone is going to breed for show or how they look, eventually they are just taking away from the true american pit. you test them, and it is in their heart and their mind etc. lots of pretty bulldogs on this site, most of them probably not honest or not have been tested, but they look pretty. thats not what this breed is about. dont get me wrong some do look good, but you just dont base your breeding off of that. jmo ... breeding off the look of a dog is almost stupid. unless you wanna show him. but just remember your just taking away from the true american pit bull terrier.

I disagree...u can and should breed for the total package of what a Apbt is supposed to be....if you breed for game alone...then you are taking away from the breed. You breed to better the breed...breeding for one certain trait out of many is taking away whatever that trait may be. A Apbt is a fine tuned athlete ..and should be able to accomplish any event you put him him period. U bred a game dog? Great....you bred a confirmation correct dog? Great! You bred and Goth both? Now there's true success. They should not only perform good...but look good aswell and have the other breed standard traits. Zest for life...loyal...willingness to please...and game. They are the Ferrari of the sporting dog world. Superior! Does Ferrari's not look well? Put together well? Perform well and have a beast under the hood? I believe so. Breed for the total package...anything less and your robbing the dog...the breed and yourself. Just my opinion and yes...I practice what I preach with success.

Ferraris are italian, and italian cars are known for falling apart. Breed for bulldogs and the rest will follow.
