Bullshit??? LOL, you see most times when people get real defensive when I make a comment is because they know deep down inside there is some truth to what I said but they dont want to admit it and use some lame excuses to justify there own methods.

Aight lets get down to the nitty gritty LOL, you said you take away the water 5hrs before pup goes to sleep, (amazing how you know exactly what time ya pup goes to sleep LOL) and I am assuming you sleep for about 6-8hrs right? so 5+6-8hrs is 11-13hrs, which is practically half a day or more for a pup to go without water.

Plus how do you know the pup had enough to drink before you took the water away?(unless ya Dr.Doolittle and can talk to animals LMAO) lets say he didnt drink no where near his fill of water before you took it away and he is really thirsty, then he would have to go without water for another 11-13hrs? Guess what he is DEHYDRATED.

You said it cuts back on the hassel of waking up at night huh wow another lame excuse LOL. Shit you need to have a lil more dedication like Zoe, go and read her post she dont use no damn lame excuses like you hardluck LMAO.

I like how you wrote the pup will live to drink water the next morning LOL. Shit its like someone saying I feed my dog only 3 times a week because I dont like to pick up dog shit , but dont worry he will live LMAO.

I know its not the new year yet but I will give yall my second advice that applies to all living creatures that drink water.

If you wait till your really thirsty to drink some water , your already dehydrated.

remember Saiygin that we are talking about a indoor pup, not a outside pup.
inside dogs drink less water because they are away from the elements.
Quite sounding like a Humaniac i feed everyday. im glad to hear its working Studentofthegame. when you feel confident in the pup you could bring the water back in later and later in the evening as the pups bladder matures. Have a good one Saiygin.

Every owner of an indoors dog, pup or not, should know what time his dog goes to sleep, plain and simple. The method of restraining the dog of water is a well known one but I feel 5 hours is a lot. 1-2 hours before sleep is plenty. It is a pup and it doesn't hold for 5 hours etc so no need for so long interval, it will pee whatever it has a lot sooner. Play with it for some time, take it out to empty and put it to sleep. All this procedure should take no more than an hour, so 2 hours is more than enough. If for some reason there is no time etc to do this before night sleep time, then maybe you should reconsider about having a pup indoors. I also put a few icecubes in a pup's water bowl just before sleep, so in case it is thirsty it can lick a bit and satisfy itself. Water deprivetion may lead it to drink more than needed when water is available which itself is diuretic etc etc.
