I understand CH.Bo was a good dog (maybe a great one) but fact is he quit! Lonzo told me what Vindicator done to him and his favourite part was when 'BO QUIT!'.. I don't have a problem with 'THE FACT' Bo, Bullyson, Snooty, Reno, Scrub, the 'N' dog (I believe Randy) and others quit, it happens, but how can we single out one dog as a cur and not them all? How can there be mitigating circumstances for one stopping and not them all? Each of the dogs 'WHO QUIT' went on to produce better and gamer than themselves.. Who can show me a dog today they know is 100% Game bred, nothing in the pedigree ever stopped? Horse feathers! More chance of my mother being a virgin after my grandson was born!

 

Any dog will quit under the right circumstances. "Never be surprsed when they quit. Be surprised when they don't"

There seems to be this new "fad" of seeing if a cur will produce but it really isn't new. Just done more. There plenty of curs, fake records, padded gr ch, cold dogs, and strays in all our peds. Seems a little counter productive to dwell on those and not making sure we aren't doing the same.

I speculate because I’m human, curious. I don’t really care unless my dogs parents, grands, or great grands quit.

Randy had dogs off him too. He still said he quit.

 

Never heard that about hagar till recently and never knew that about lightning ...did curstopper produce any as good as himself mate ? And what was the rest of curstoppers litter like ?

Well if you know Danny which I do, he doesn't focus much energy on talking about curs or who quit. He bought a bitch that he saw quit, hooked her into a badass 4xw and whipped her. He was a conditioner, not a breeder so what he looked for was different than what you or I may look for.

I get folks speculating, makes for conversation. Problem is most of the time those shining the brightest light on the dogs in the past with a blemish couldn't or wouldn't have knocked the hair off any one of em!

LOL do you know Danny . Because I don't think you do . I asked Danny to tell me about Nigger . He never seen that dog quit and doesn't know why people want to always add his name to something he never seen or said .

Where you there when he did or didn’t quit? Did you see the dog go at all?? Or are you just going along with some else’s word like the rest of us? You said you asked Danny, which means you don’t really know either... Or you know as much as me sense I “asked” someone to tell me about the same dog you asked about.

I’ll give D Burton benefit of the doubt. Let’s say HE never saw the dog quit. Does that mean the dog didn’t quit?? Hell YellowJohn says D Burton bought a cur gyp, why wouldn’t he buy a cur dog?? Buy one quitter you’ll buy more...

“I was there when Bullyson quit and when Nigger quit. They both stood on the line and would not go. I can see the look of 'I want to go home' in each of their eyes. My Alvin dog was hurt much worst than either of them and made a crawling stumbling courtesy scratch in a 5 seconds clocked time. I didn't have to make excuses for him. Some big time dog-men of that era said Bullyson was in shock. Yet no person that was not connected to Bullyson through Breeding or bloodline. Said he didn't quit. Only those with the Bullyson bloodline of dogs said he didn't quit. Now about Nigger. Old man Forsythe had him and he was called Blackshine back them. There were three people there when Nigger quit.I was one of them. He went longer than 6 minutes though and it was just a roll to check another dog. Maloney and Merriman bought him from forsythe. They took him and rolled him and brought him back. They traded him back to Forsythe in a couple of days. He undoubtedly quit then but I didn't see him quit that time. Back in the old days I fought lots of dogs. One of the best dogs I ever had was off Nigger. I saw lots of good dogs off both NIgger and Bullyson. They were great producers.I have an advantage on you guys because I saw their off-springs fight and they were good dogs. MikeKelly had aBullyson dog that was a great dog and he lived about 5 miles from me. He whip some good dogs with him. I could have bought Nigger for 15 dollars and my friend Charley Adkisson is still alive and can verify this. When they quit I would not have had either of them. Yet after seeing the young dogs Mayfield had off nIgger that were good and the many dogs off Bullyson that were good. I'd give lots of money for those two curr dogs to breed to this day and time. Bobby Hall never would admit for years Bullyson quit but later in life stood up and told the truth in an interview. Your not thinking if you wouldn't buy and breed to two dogs that ended up being top of the food chain on producing. I wish I had them two today to breed to. One thing I'm certain of dogs can quit in school and prove to be dead game later in their careers. They can also show deep gameness then cur out quickly their next showing.

As far as giving Danny the "benefit of the doubt" lol He bred a son of Nigger to a daughter of Nigger and got possibly the greatest pit dog that ever lived. Danny says Pit General was one of the best dogs he ever saw.

It's hard to downplay the accomplishments of guys like Tudor, Mayfield and Burton. Those guys were top tier dogmen, not perfect men but they fucking knew bulldogs!
