Eli vs. Redboy

Who the hell knows. Now first off lets get something straight. the bullshit about redboy cant bite and are game as hell. well truth is a shitload of redboy dogs can bite you in too and alot are game, NOT any gamer than the next well bred working line. Next about Eli dogs are the hardest biters and lack gameness. sure the eli line throws its share of hard mouth dogs. But so does every other line of hard working dogs. and another thing if you dont think the eli strain is not game you are a plain fool. Some of the most game dogs I have ever seen were down from bullyson( I am talking about dead game no turn ever game) So this bullshit about redboy is gamer and eli is ruffer is just that bullshit. Alot of the Redboy peddlers started that rummer about the redboy line is the gamest. and a lot of dogmen that used the eli line made every one think eli had no bottem end by pulling off the chain against 8 weeks just do to tthe fact eli dogs were so bad.

 

TRUE TJ-I have seen deep game eli dogs out here too, and I have seen redboy dogs quit on top(something eli dogs are "known"for) a good dog is just that and it doesnt matter how its bred. I would prefer redboy because I like their intensity and style better. I do like both lines, I just like the % of the redboy crosses I have seen better.

 

Always thought that dogs (no matter what family or line) would be respresentative of each breeders selection process. If one breeds for gameness above all else then that breeder should be producing deep game dogs in high percentages and if a breeder selects for mouth above all then his dogs should produce hard biting dogs.
A very smart guy named Buddah once said we should always seek to find a balance, walk the middle line so to speak so I would think there are hard biting Redboy dogs and deep game Eli dogs and everything in between. (?)

Mike from MD I have something similar to your beautiful bitch coming up next year in our next breeding. Should be real interesting to see what comes of it, but first we have a few to go through we've been working on :rolleyes:

 

thats why i keep mine crossed str8 off of good pull winners im more so looking for total package dogs. in my theory they pop up more out of a good 4 way cross. maybe when it comes too breeding going for a good tight dog may work for you given you might be tryna base your yard off one line or one cross. ima keep it real with mine im base my yard of pull winners what ever works best go old school with the breedings best too best keeping my yard based on intergrity stay true to the point. I have dogs that i will probably never breed in my life but they are proven dogs too the bone. we can go back an forth all night all week about what are dogs would do in a race but none of us here are going to the track with one another im not going to lie it can become fun when you done workin the hound sit down an bullshit with some of these guys but to keep it real you know what you have and i damn sure know what i have. like j said and wardog said even my boy franky we all know of good ones from alot of dif lines so lets all just come too common ground that we cant meet up and prove someone wrong do to the fact we are not involved in any thing thats against the law. in closing id like too say believe none of what you hear and half of what you see on the net:cool:

do any of you have any idea how many various lines and loose crosses there are based on eli and redboy...100's completely different familys...they come from the same dogs but when each breeder makes decesions on how he blends his stock the formula changes each time...and on top of that issue yall are messing up by generalizing lines they can throw a whole array of traits..eli dogs might on (key word here) AVERAGE throw hard mouth dogs and an average redboy dog might be just a gamedog...but both lines could produce freaks and currs diff lines diff percentages but everyone has there own flavor and what works for one might not work for another....

i like pure eli lines but i dont care for pure redboy lines(except cottingham)...but crossed redboy dogs produce phenominaly...

id take a 3/4 cottingham werdo(jeep)cross over 99.9 eli line

and id take an eli bolio cross like indian sunny bred over any pure redboy line...,gr ch midnight, ch vengence bbb gr ch spikey


if i had to pick a pure line my eli would be cardenas orone of the various homer/rascal lines

and my redboy would be cottingham

the cottingham dogs arent really pure red boy, they are mixed with medlin's outlaw blood. red boy's half brother if im not mistaken.

 

Honestly it has already been said that the best of the 2 would win but if they were both at the same conditioning level I would give the upperhand to the Eli dog because hard mouth will drain conditioning along with liquid DNA out of any dog and although Redboy is known for good wind the Eli line is known for having hard mouth.

 

Also, like Triple J said it is BS that Eli dogs are not game. For the most part Redboy dogs are known for wind/gameness and that's a trait of the bloodline but it doesn't mean that every single Redboy dog will have wind it's just a bloodline specification or something that's common in that bloodline just like the hard biting Eli dogs. Nothing is ever definite or guaranteed just because you breed two well bred, game tested dogs together it just increases your chances of maybe getting one or more of those traits that you're looking for in those bloodlines.

 

Both were excellant lines, from good dogs ( not the only good lines) they have been tested over and over the results are what they are, those dogs are dead. And the question lives on. Good dogs are where you find them.

 

Well said. You can never determine any winner by bloodline alone. It is only a reference to basically tell you the family tree and origin not a deciding factor in a match. If that were the case there would be no reason to game test them, you could just bring your pedigree to the 16x16 without the dog and argue about who has the better bred dog which would still be debatable. There are no guarantees in this game or any game. You can have the gamest, best bred dog on earth with the best conditioning and he can be stopped by some dog somewhere. In other words, anyone could win and just be proud of the dog you have and not boastful whether you have a gamedog or a house pit (the term staffies or amstaffs or bullies don't exist to me because they are all APBT so I call them house pits if they're not gamebred, no APBT anywhere consist of only one breed of dog because the breed was created from several, even the legendary gamedogs we all know and love have terriers, and bulldogs in them whether you like it or not whether they are bred for size, color and conformation or gameness)

I don't have pure Eli dogs because there are none JMO.Eli jr,Bullyson,Brendy and Lady are a product of Eli being bred to a Boze female.If we belive the papers on them I'll call them Blind Billy dogs.I have some Bullyson bred dogs that I have crossed on some Jeep/Snooty dogs.I'll run them swamp dogs against them NC dogs all day long...................
