eli dogs

    This discussion is about the Eli dog and what some ppl...are saying about them.Some of the novice level dogmen who are saying that the Eli line is watered down??? What,huh are you crazy!!! And they say that they couldn't be beat with pure or heavy bred Eli dog..what a joke! I breed this line and i've been a big f.Boudreaux fan for over 20 years or more and these dogs are fierce,strong as hell,hard mouthed and destroy quickly!! And not only that..you can cross them with just about any other line and get great results even better than pure bred eli dogs and over 80% or more lines has Eli cross in it.. hell if you do your homework it was Eli/Carver dogs that did it all!! And back to the silly ass dog men that say ya can't win with just eli..hahhahaha well try these ingredients: a 100% pure Eli dog from a Boudreaux or Clemmons stock,Cochran's shorty cowboy line pure that is..,pure Bobby hall's strain of bullyson,and Tom garner's el'negro or Frank white blood that gives you Chinaman/homer blood.Now that's Eli my way! And they say they can't be beat!! WANNA BET!!!!

    Every line is watered down at some point, be it from peddlers, untested stock that no longer can compete etc.. The fact folks still calling it Eli a dog long gone almost 60 years kind of moves people to believe that theory.. It's been many flagship animals since him to have taken the name.. So maybe they are saying the "Eli" is watered down bc the name is far gone instead of using a current name.

    I had a little bitch off of shooter that looked a lot like him^..zero ability,smarts and wind... but she was a bowling ball ! one of those animals you tip your hat to, hindsight is 20/20. very durable animal!

    Very few dogs who have been bred pure from a certain dog from 20-30-40 years ago still compete. Very few.

    You said it your self that when crossed dogs got better than pure Eli dogs. Over time it is the crosses that not only work but create the next family. Pure Red Boy to the Jocko family from Don Mayfield made Red Boy-Jocko dogs. Or if one is old enough to remember when they were Jocko-Red Boy dogs. An entire family of crossed dogs holding their own over time. Then add the Hollingsworth/Patrick blood and Mayday is created. Another family who is now bred pure and stood on its own for quite some time.

    Many other examples. At some point every dog is a cross. It took something and something to make ELI.

    It is funny how the popularity of Red Boy changed the name. One of the first older guys I met way back was not a fan of the Red Boy stuff. "Just a dumb ol' Jocko-Red Boy dog". There were a lot of hard keepers in that family back then. He use to tell us every time someone listed a winner it was ten plastic barrels chewed up somewhere. Like I said, not a fan.

    I would tell him to hear "my dog the winner" I'd buy 20 barrels. He would then tell me I was young and stupid. I'd laugh and he would grumble.

    I sure do miss being young and stupid. It is much better than being old and stupid. LOL.

    I do remember them dogs here's a good example of a Jocko - Red Boy dog I had right from Chavis out of Double Trouble x Red Lightning later heard Red Lightning quit in 15 min. but her daughter had it all and I do agree with you I miss being young and stupid because it is better than being old and stupid
