Is it just me or can anyone else see how much the peds Dusty posted look like todays 'so called' Reid dogs? Skipper was right! Yarrakin lad laughed every time another of his partners Dann dogs quit, I even remember removing one of them curs from a pen on Rayrocks yard because it tried to bite him.. Rayrock weighed 20 stone and hiding behind a barn door from a 43lb mutt, we laughed about it for weeks :-) Chainey, Grizzly and their pups all on the yard at that time, all real bulldogs and Dann dogs getting stopped almost every week. I know where they went.. It wasn't where they should have gone and there lays the source of the Reid decline.. Every time they thought they was going tighter on Reid they only went tighter on Dann.. Too many looked at the pedigree and never even noticed the dog.. Fatal!

 

oldguy the only real line of reid dogs came from reids skipper that's where most went wrong, reid was using different stud and brood dogs with no skipper but they are all called reid dogs

I'd like to know how it's bred. What's it's name? There are good dogs about with bits of Reid back of them but it don't make em Reid dogs.

What's a Reid dog supposed to look like? Seen em brindle, fawn, red, blue, black. I've seen Blueis and a couple of his offspring and they look like Reid dogs I've seen bred by Reid.
I agree to many look for the name Reid in a pedigree and breed from it without ever looking to see if the dog is worth breeding from in the first place. And that's where the decline begun. Not only in Reid dogs but in all lines where the paper means more than maintaining the quality a line was known for.

 

Don't understand you comment,,,? I can name many lines of dogs that got hidden ,,,including Mayfield dogs,,,,

Ed bred some top dogs ,,the Mayfield stuff that came into the isles was generally poor , very few made the grade, out of the many many litters uk was flooded with ,,, but Ed Reids dogs done very well ,,,some top dogs ,,,
