Actually the head was the only thing left. Didn't even get a chance to see if it was a male or female.

I have a bitch that has NEVER had pups and I had two pups that werent mine they were a friends that I was keeping for her while she went out of town and one slipped out the pen, I searched high and low for that pup, freaking out trying to figure out what to say to friend and there the pup lay with half its back missing in diamonds doghouse.. does that mean she'll cull her own pups? or just prey drive?

 

listen a lot of good answers to this post but you must keep in mine when you breed and this goes with those who are deep in to dna ,genetic meaning when you try to get the domestics out of the dog to get it as wild as possible meaning as game as you can go you open the door for acts like this. i new a old timer that breed and breed for 10 years he created killers and i mean killers these dogs would bite and rip out what ever they grab i mean litterily i would not believe it if i did see it. he told me in order for him to breed he had to have another bitch to breast feed because they would try to kill any thing on al fours kids and all he toll me he was bring the wild back in the dogs example have you ever saw a lion in the wild they waste no time with the prey they lock on the mouth or neck and never let go till it stops breathing and you take domestic lion put a donkey and it would attack and bite it al over till it die because the wild was taking out of it he did not no how to kill. so he toll me that with all his dna and genetics altering his dogs would not breed and bear young they would kill them no mother did not no how to care for her young he would keep the dogs couple up feeding them live baby boars have each couple watch and watch till they learned the kill bite he would say no leg bites just snout and wind pipe bites and never let go till it stop moving and i no some of his dogs are out in the world right now...........some of you might no of him..........................................................................sounds crazy right but true just throwing this out there

 

Something about this sounds a little off to me.

 

The dog that I know that ate her pup was actually a pretty chill dog. Awesome temperment with people, not looking to start fights with dogs but more than willing to partipate. lol Lived with cats. Definitely not some wild beast of any sort. She was a family dog. I chalk her situation up to inexperience. She was cleaning the pup and started to nibble on the bit of umbilical cord and then chomp chomp chomp. She was actually a REALLY great mum once control was taken away from her to clean them all as they were coming out. Once they were all born she settled right in to mum hood.

 

I dont belive in bottle feeding either i had a female out of that same mayfield line who started killing the pups she killed 6 out of 8 the last two where definatly on fire but both died at like 5 1/2 mounths on a neibors yard at that time i had already gotten rid of the bitch but she ended up dieing around the same time the pups did. mother nature man....... its her way or no way.
