I was curious who actually has their dogs drag chains and if you can post pics. I know it's kinda old but I hear it's great for conditioning and weight pulling. Post some pics if you have them.

i only handwalk my mutt, but when it gets warm before the summer months, every other day during the week i clip sections of thick ass logging chain near the base of her chain where it goes into the ground to give a little extra weight for her to pull around a few hours a day. she runs her chain from sun up until the hot part of the day; i usually take the thicker chain off hers before i go to work in the afternoon. helps her burn her extra weight off in a few weeks. imo dragging weight to add muscle doesn't benefit your dog in the long run. if nature intended, they'd have that extra bulk around their bones to begin with.

Are you looking to start pulling, or just condition?

I'm on the fence. Right now it's just conditioning until I get his hips x-rayed. If we are clear, we are good to go.

Macho, I'm in NW CT, and I've just started dragging my dog again, now that the snow has melted. If you'd like to come watch at some point, you're more than welcome. I'm hoping to get the 11 points she needs to earn her Ace title in April, and then she's retiring. But we'll be training a few times a week until then.

If you're x-raying hips, you should probably go ahead and x-ray patellas and elbows, the increased cost is minimal. Do you have a vet to x-ray?

Nice- where is the show? I would like to see. Pm me what part of CT are you from. I'm in the valley near Waterbury. I have a vet but I found out there's a clinic in norwalk on the 11th of April. Hopefully he passes lol.

I'm in New Preston, by Mount Tom, but I train in Litchfield, at White Memorial State Park.

Is it an OFA clinic you're doing?

isnt a good handwalk more effective ?
I mean in the video you see the dog pull the chain but not constantly.
I asume that if he pulls the leach realy well he puts more stress on his body.
