Dozers first big boar solo!

Discussion in 'Sports & Activities' started by dogemdownsouth, Mar 27, 2013.

  1. Thanks PS. I have a chocolate red nose that is pretty hardcore as well. She will be in season soon and I am going to breed her to dozer. She is a cousin to dozer. I hope to get a couple more out of the breeding just like him.

My last litter ,i kept 2 i liked the best and placed the rest 6 total i placed..3 females in the 6 one was the runt..Two of the three females caught the first hog they ever saw at 7 months..the third was the runt she wanted to fight the hog instead of catching..she is now catching just fine..they all about 15 months now..The runt went to a young guy that does use vest so i havent watched her yet.But i knew he used them bfore he got her so I am not totally aginst it..But i wont breed ones that havent prooved thier ability without vest..I am not into the hunting part as much as I like to see what my catch dogs can do..I can go anytime I like but at the point where I just place my stock in good hands and get the feedback.I got one dead so far out of the last litter got killed on a big hog .

i have seen them work and they're amazing little animals. there is a breeder here that raises some of the best i have heard, eventually i'm going to get me a pup when i get the kennels in my barn finished up. this guys raises them the way i like them with just enough bulldog to get the traits needed but not the size

Congratulations dogemdownsouth. I am not up tp date on the latest accepted practices in hog hunting but you sure lucked out given the circumstances. Not everybody will agree with you on everything, but not everyone has to be a middle finger some have to be pointers, rings, pinkies and thumbs.

We mainly hunt curs and 1 or 2 good dogs is all you need to shut a hog down if you have dogs worth feeding and if I was running a good bulldog it would be him and 1 cur dog to find him any more than that its a cluster and your not doing something right and you better start culling and start over IMO

That is one hell of a dog pat Dozer on the head for me !! Hog hunting is not for the faint of heat . Size does not matter just as long as the dog can get it done just ask my 12 lbs patt Gurddy and by the way she doesn't ware a vest or collar !!! Good job Dogemdownsouth!!!

David I went to a few myself..The ones we had always wound up in a fist fight at the end of the day..Thats the truth..Believe or not some just went for the fist fights at the end of the day.Hardest I ever got punched was at a hog rodeo lol.

bam The one I went to was called the lumberyard and a bunch of my friends got in lot of trouble with the law. They call it Baiting and blood sport. and as far as Fighting never had any problem with that too many people there to break it up.
