Totally agree the man had and bred good dogs. However the man snitched on another man and I can't respect him as a man. Especially when I myself have stood in front of 12 and took it on the chin like a man. Not boasting to any degree at all. Some people say they won't do this or won't do that but if they have never been put in a position to where it's your ass or the next man's, u can't say what you won't do. Most people think their dog won't quit, won't know till u test him(hypothetically speaking of course) so you really can't say. Keep it private and keep 'em hunting......

 

The newer people messed the dogs up. Come on, the internet, boards and people that were selling all type of underground crap for a quick buck killed it. Not to long ago message boards were a dime a dozen and folks were posting minute by minute progress to get fans and push expensive pups. We all know the kennels, lets not act ignorant.
And dog thiefs also been around forever. The fact is Fatbill put alot of heat on the dogs period. And look at Tants age.
Look we can point fingures all day long but the truth is $$$ and fame messed this whole thing up.

Look at some of the people in the dog game .Drug dealers brought so much heat. Sure guys was running moonshine but when drugs came into the game things changed and not for the better.I'm not surprised a guy snitches in the dog game.Look at some of the top dogmen no saints there(rubbing dogs,switching papers ,hanging papers,stealing dogs,and many other dirty deals).What I am surprised is when someone does snitch in the dog game others still deal with them.Guys put peds out there like its nothing.People drop names of current breeders all the time look when they took FB dogs and killed them.Guys where on here saying well FB knew they was coming and his best dogs was in other places.Talk about the past but leave the present out of the conversation.You have some honest guys breeding good dogs and they get grouped in with the low lifes and loose their whole yard.They stand to lose 20 to 30 years of work because of people dropping their names all the time.You want fame pick another hobby.

 

Get it straight all Carl Mims did was say he sold a dog to Michael Vick a long time ago, but David Tant sent people to jail. Carl Mims did not send anyone to jail; he just said he sold Mr. Vick a dog when he was still at Virginia Tech.

 

Snitching is as low as you can go but calling any one a peddler is ignorant. Without people "peddling" puppies, people would not have fine bred, pure APBT's. Breeders put a lot of work into keeping dogs and having litters, why shouldnt they have a fat piece of pork on the end of their fork too?

If we get involved in illegal activity, We never know who are Friends are. There are alot of people in Prision today, That there on Family members have Snitched on. You will Never Meet, Or SEE, - A BLIND, DEAF, OR MUTE PERSON IN PRISION. Always remember if Arrested, Or even Questioned, Never Make or Give a Statement Without -A- Attorney Present. P.S. It is a Fact that Law enforcemet can be Crooked, Unhonest, Ect. aka, The Real Story !

I hear you Lee D. And I actually thought about that statement after I posted, because there are a few individuals that for whatever their reasoning may be are just " game" enough to take it on the chin. Having said that, I said THIRTY years, not 3 or 5... Fact is if you know 1000 people facing 25 years or better, you may know 1 that will take it rather than tell. That number decreases exponentially depending upon the closeness of the realtionship involved. He may not tell on you if you are his bud, but if he can throw me under the bus and I mean little to him then chances are he will. Don't know how much hands on experience you have in this subject but that is how it goes. Also Federaql cases are a whole different ballgame than state cases. State cops are bush league compared to the feds. I wasn't defending D. Tant's actions in this case ( although I do see many people spoken highly of and MANY threads going about who have done the same or worse), I was speaking more to the bravado I hear thrown around by guys who have never been there, espousing what they would or wouldn't do. The fact remains that In this day and age most will fold up like a K-mart canoe.. Just how it is. I do agree with you that there are exceptions, FB ( both FB's) stood up and there are a few more, but most didn't and most won't.

 

while i dont know but a couple personally that have faced time over the dogs, i do know better than a handfull who faced fed time over trafficing drugs back in the day,
and half did their time 15 years fed time = 11 served.... they stood up and took their lumps. the others got their name drug thru the mud, as well as took some beatings when they got brave enough to show their faces in the wrong places. anyway, my point is that some men will still probably do the crime as well as the time, but what i have noticed is that they bounce outta federal prisons with a whole new respect for the law.

 

Your key phrase there was back in the day(different rules these days unfortunately). Also a big difference in 15 and 30. THESE days WAY more are snitching than taking lumps. Also it's amazing how many who have copped to 5, 10 , 15 really told and got a deal insted of taking the 30 or life sentence that these ridiculous drug laws carry. Then you also have the ones who didn't tell because they had nothing to tell... Or the others beat them to it. But we seem to have gotten off of the original topic, so I respectfully see where you are coming from and stand on my original statement.

 

I know for a fact Tant was a dog thief himself!!! A fact!!! So he got he just deserve!!!

Ace makes some very good points.People always have this idea that they will take 30 years and not snitch.Well I have seen fathers snitch on their sons and vise versa,brothers snitch on each other, cousins,and best friends. I wouldn't bet my family/life on someone else keeping their mouth closed.I have said before I work in the security field and have first hand experience with guys snitching on each other.I was friends with a group of dogmen back in the 80's and they got busted for rolling some dogs.Everyone of the guys was fighting the case.One guy(did time in NJ State prison) decided to plead guilty and tell them exactly what happened.That screwed the others big time.One guy lost a grand champion.Would u consider this snitching? There are all kinds of forms of snitching.Big time drug dealers brought so much heat.Now that has been covered on here already.

 

Having been there and NOT done that, for a little money or a little time off the sentence or just afraid of the consequences from their pals, there are those who just make up stuff about someone and let them hang. That is what happened to us. The snitch had no business with us and us, none with him. the one legged bastard is still dealing dogs in Texas, after several busts. What does that tell you. It tells me PAID INFORMANT. The son of a bitch made up quite a whopper of a tale and the law bought it hook, line, sinker and fishing pole, along with Goodwin and those wimpy HSUS egg suckers.This whole thing took place Feb 2008 and over 100 good dogs died and we lost two homes. Mr Snitch, he is still in business and even defended by his pals. There were several people who took this opportunity to vent their jealousy and make up some stuff to add to that stinky kettle of fish. Their charges were dropped and they lost nothing.You can figure it out for yourself. Snitching above and beyond the call of duty so he could keep selling bulldogs and whatever else he is still doing. Snitches dont have to worry about the law. They can brag all they want.They are paid to drag others into their net, like online-pedigrees. Boycott that site unless you want to pay to be under surviellance!

 

Here is the problem that we all have. You see the body of work that this man produced. It is the things that some of us only dream of. Because of this, we make these people out to be bigger then life. In reality, most are just simple people that have issues like us. When the time comes, you see just what they are made of. He is not the first. He will not be the last.
