Dogs when SHTF

I'm pretty sure most everyone on here has at one time or another seen at least an article or two about "What if shit hits the fan?" Like if the economy crashes and businesses close the doors and the grocery shelves are empty. Has any of you ever gave it a thought about what to do with your dogs if this was to happen? I would like to think no matter what happens I could survive and hopefully be able to keep at least 1-2 dogs fed. Those that have several dogs what would you do? Sure would be hell to have to put down a yard of dogs to keep them from starving to death.

 

well i'm a country boy- mostly we could live off the place. about 1/3 or more of our meat comes off the land and most of the veggies. we have been talking about making solar panels and setting up own power grid. would be using the battery set up. that way we wouldn't have to depend on the city elect. lol if ya aint country I feel for you when the bottom falls out-the citys aint where you would want to be-- dan

 

Take em out to the woods and let em catch hogs to earn their keep!!

In all honesty I would hold on as long as I could to as many as I could. I'd prob feed chickens or rabbits, something I could farm for them and the family

I'm down to one dog know she live mostly off of the venicen we kill and the veggie's we grow. She would be alright but if i did have a yard full of dog's i'd put em down before i let em starve and let them suffer.whatever's best for them.

 

Dogs my friend would become the very least of your concerns if you really understood every aspect of this...The only market for dogs would be those with the temperament of a Bullyson are Honeybunch

 

Id be ok. Im not too shabby in the woods. Id hunt/trap/fish to eat and if worse came to worse, the dogs would get ate. Id like to think, im a good enough hunter, trapper that i feel I could at the very least, survive. I tend to think I would actually thrive as would a few of the dogs. Never really know until your put in that position but if you have decent survival skills and hunting skills, youd probably be ok for a while.

 

Market for dogs? I don't think most here have dogs because there is a market for them.

...agk...is right the dogs would be a source off protein/etc..those that help out in hunting/etc...great...those that just take up space..in to the food chain they go...after i ate the rest off my family...lol.....

 

Well I got 2 spring fed fish ponds full, plenty of deer,turkey and hogs and I'm a lot like PMD I harvest a lot of wildlife.I don't grow a garden because I hate that shit lol,but I could if I needed .I got a tractor and planters,disk, breaking plows ..Its funny I don't like to garden but I grow green patches of wheat and rape mixed together for the deer in winter.

 

...would.nt be a problem for ya then,,to throw up a small plot...be surprised what ya save.$$$.with fresh veg for yourself+family...

 

There's a lot of "if's" but with no fuel it would make traveling difficult for most people. If the stores were empty of food for humans then more than likely it would be difficult to get pet food/livestock feed. Free range chickens would be for me not the dogs. A good 22 rifle with 5 thousand rounds and a 12 gauge with 500 shells stashed somewhere would be a big help I believe. lol The movies Red Dawn and Mad Max give another look at things but thats Hollywood. That show Revolution seemed more realistic as to maybe the way it could be. I believe the worst would be a situation like the Marshal Law and FEMA Camp B.S. scenario thats scattered across the net.

 

Yes fuel would run out quickly.Have to be real conservative with what you have.

 

Being that i'm in a big city i'd probably be robbed and looted unless i'm out robbing and looting. The city would be the very worst place to be. Absolute chaos

Lol blue...its true.Your dogs would eventually become the least of your worries when it comes to feeding your family.

 

..well i'd def eat the family first...where's me ex....she's first..say she be a bitter taste.....lol...i know in korea where dogs are speciality meat..they breed them pariah/native dogs for the meat market.......
