well. its starting to get super cold here and ive noticed in the past week that one of my pups refuses to use her dog house at night. checked and checked, the biotch curls up in a ball shivering her ass off outside the dog house. i figured shed have figured this out as she does infact use it when its raining, but not when its cold as crap out. anyone ever have this issue?

I had one do the same thing. Wake up with a couple of inches of snow on her back. She jumped in a crate one day that I got a transmission in so I made a doghouse out of it. Shes been in it now for about 9 years. Crazy bitch. lol

yeah i dunno wtf is up with mine. i figured shed just realize that its indeed cold outside and go in her house, but its getting a little rediculous, and its dropping in the 20s now. i guess if she doesnt start soon imma "remodel" her dog house and see if she just doesnt like it so small. i got no other ideas. freakin dogs. lol

  6. feed her in it. my dog wouldnt use hers for a month so i started placing her food in there now shes in there most of the time when its cold. or even decent lol

some dogs are just weird like that.the dog in my aviator is similar to that he'll sit on top of the damn house instead of going inside when it rains.i don't know if its stupidity or just a disregard for the elements?ever now and then ill throw a bone in there or a toy just to remind him there is an inside to it.

give the dog an old blanket that you have used give it too the dog to use even outside for a while as long as it keeps it dry, when the dog adopts it as its new bed fasten it to the floor of the kennel, with anyluck your smell and the fact that the dog has used the blanket as a bed will help once the dogs comfy take it out then start with new chips again.

    good luck mate!

father said the same thing. i will try it. i tried a dog bed when i first put her out to get her used to being in that house but she shredded it, though she was MUCH younger then. so maybe itll work this time. if not, i will try different chips. thanks you guys. :)

i had one that would tear everything up but when it was my old blanket he wouldnt , he would just use it as a bed, same as tearing clothes of the clothes line it was never out of bordom just want our smell near them when we were not around.
We stopped him by giving him our blanket and just buying a new one for us lol. Worked with the kennel too, but it realy is going to depend on where you live, our winters are not near as cold as what some of you guys have.

Oh and take into account it may need to be fastened to the floor, i didnt write why i guess it obvious, he would just pull it out and sleep in front of the kennel lol. Stupid as.

yeah i wish i could do that but my comforter is slightly nice. so imma just sleep with one of my cheapo ones and roll all over it and try again.

i had 2 like this, i started putting their dogfood inside the doghouse. worked for 1 and didnt for the other, i never solved one so i cant tell you much more. if u ever figure it out let me know what you did! She loves her crate so i put het crate inside a chicken coop and i believe thats as good as its gonna get...l

Cedar shavings have a real strong smell. If I were you I would try pine shavings softer smell and less harsh on the skin. If that don't work I don't know what it would be. I can't imagine she would sit out there and let herself freeze to death. My dog wouldn't go in when I first put those plastic doggy doors up, so I just had to keep shoving him in but he finally figured it out. Good luck!

since when is 20 degrees cold??
i HOPE it gets as warm as 20 sometime this week.
yesterday the high was below zero.
the night before it was below zero with 70 mph winds and snow.
the dogs were up and running around in the morning, they do just fine outside.
some dogs like it outside, they are stubborn. maybe if it gets colder around your area the dog will get "smarter".
if a dog is so stupid it refuses to go into a house i'd think about culling the dog. i've culled them for alot less in the past.
