I know he needs just a little conditioning, but what should I do exactly to get him there?? The next ADBA show in our area is in Nov. so I have a little time to do some work.

Thanks, should I just let him stay on the chain for a while?? B/C our neighbors play basketball every evening and all he does is run the chain back and forth trying to get their ball. I noticed that his muscles showed alot more when he stayed out side.

Feed him good food, but don't over-feed him! Lots of walking, running and playing!

Good looking dog..Run him to tone him up a little...but NOV is so far away... he and you have plenty of time... so don't keep him real skinny for too long ...keep him where he is at now or let him gain a pound or two... until a few weeks to a month out from the show... then tone him up with cardio IMO...

Thanks for the help, I plan on keeping him inside until a month to go. The good thing is I don't I have to exercise him much, he does it his self. You know, the back and forth on the chain all day untill he gets tired.

he's a good looking pup..i remember you saying he's not a year old yet..so he still has time to grow and fill out more and even tone up.. heres what someone told me a few months ago w/one of my females and it really works.. feed more food..but make sure its a high quality dog food. feed more food but exercise more, so he's not building fat, but muscle tone. i feel the best all around exercise is swimming..you will see muscles you never knew they had..it helps to tuck them up in the waist. roadwork as someone said above. heres my females typical schedule..just remember she's fully grown though. morning time feed half cup canadie. hour later, baisc running and playing fetch. springpole for about 30 min..1 hr every other day. use something soft if you use the springpole a lot so you don't wear the teeth down. rest a few hrs. evening i swim her for a good hour straight..playing fetch, and sometimes tied in the pool on a harness. or the beach. right after swimming i run her either beside the truck or beside the fourwheeler.i run her every day, but every other day i will run her at a sprint for 10 min, then at a jog for 10 min..then sprint 10 and follow that. i do that for 1 hour. the other day i just steady run at about 11 to 13 mph for a good hour and a half to 2 hrs. all this is followed by a steady slow jog down, then walk..then a good cool down and rub down in the water hose..making sure that you start w/the water on the feet and slowly up the legs cooling the joints..just like you have to do w/a horse. rest and then play the rest of the night. this is all if you have extra time. you live in NC, if your high in the moutains, the elevation is great for wind. this worked on my female in 2 mths..i seen a huge difference..but for the most part he looks fine, and he's still a pup, so let him grow up before you do too much w/him. simple road work and swimming will be fine for now.
