Do I do anything about it and how?

Having lunch yesterday with my boyfriend and his coworker, we got on the topic of pit bulls... of course ;) . Well his coworker stated that he and his father were out hunting and came across a large area with "hundreds" (and I put that in quotes because you know how some exaggerate) of pit bulls and each one tied up to a tree. As they walked by, they saw a man and a woman feeding them, each carrying a club in their hand to protect them from the dogs. (If anyone in Oklahoma reads this, the area is in Slick, OK). Now I'm not saying that anything is going on, but he said they didn't look to be taken care of in the best ways possible.

I would hate to just let it go when in fact some illeagle activity is going on, or I would hate to tattle tale on them and nothing be going on. Any suggestions?

(I actually thought about doing some investigation on my own but then realized I could get myself in trouble... though the thought of investigating it myself is still lingering in my head.)

I would stay clear of it, it may not be right, but its their yard and will only cause problems for you and them. Besides you know the old saying about snitches...

Yea... I just get to thinking about the dogs. And if you have to feed them with a club in your hand, that's a little odd to me. Well, guess I'll just leave it alone.

WELL its propably not safe for the dogs to be in an area where people are hunting to begin with. i am not familiar with the area but you have to figure if there are that many dogs there, if they are rescued most will probably be put down anyway, this is a tough one. good luck.

BEst thing to do is mind you own buisness. What someone does or does not do with their dogs isnt anyone elses buisness.

I guess I'll go against my nature to care about things and just leave it alone. Thanks.

That's good to hear then. Like I said, I haven't been there myself.

Hope all is well down there then.

Big Daddy, I see you like anything Old Family Reds. Are they no longer around? I get a funny page when trying to access their website. I've got a hemphill/wilder pup who's mother was from Old Family Reds.

It sounds like your boyfriends co-worker probably is confused does he know about the breed maybe the clubs he saw were breaking sticks. I would just stay out of it if it does not have anything to do with me or my yard.

There is no telling what really was going on when your co-workers came across the dogs. It may have not been a club at all, maybe it was just a stick that they picked up off the ground. The dogs were probably not thin or anything. Nowadays, if the dog isn't 5 lbs overweight, everyone thinks it is starving. If you are so worried about it, go and talk to them. Don't go calling the cops or animal control over what they think they saw. It could be way off and the AC will be more than happy to kill all of their dogs anyways.

I wouldn't call the animal control over something I wasn't sure about. If I'm out that way sometime, I might just do a quick drive-by. Nothing wrong with looking right? Anyways, as stated, I don't know if anything is even wrong. Just seeking opinions on what you guys and gals would do. I'm known to my family as the worry wart if that tells ya anything;)

  15. No. Do not see that way. If you told and the dogs got taken away, what do you think will happen to the dogs? THEY ALL WILL BE KILLED. Go with your nature and just leave it alone.

The people with the club may be individuals hired to help around the camp and may not know the breed or individual dogs.

I think it is best left alone. The post said that the people were not taking care of the dogs, but they were out feeding them. Some people think that dogs should be fat, game dog owners dont usually keep their dogs fat. In my experience with hunting and dogs, I doubt that the other guys were trying to hunt in an area with 100 + APBT's . I cant speak for anyone else's dogs, but mine make a big enough fuss to scare off an animal if it cant get to it. Everyones idea of a properly maintained dog is different. Besides, Big Daddy said everything was cool, so thats 1+, and 1 - = Hearsay

Well I'm not going to do anything about it. I'd like to at least see for myself and ease my mind from it's "I think too damn much" self. That's really hard for me to do but as you all say, let it be. Big daddy brought some ease to the situation.

Thanks to all for your opinions and suggestions.

At least you asked first instead of acting. That in it self shows that you have a good head on your shoulders. It's O.K. to worry;)

Those "clubs could have been Scoopers. If they were tending the yard.

As was said before, the best course of action is to mind ones own business. And if everyone did just that wouldn't the world be a better place?
