My question is what's your thoughts on it. I kind of like the idea of it. At least the breeder is being honest in stating this is how he or she is bred. These are only my opinion and would like to here some of your. 7 understand this is only for purchase of dog ,stud service etc., not you breeding your own dogs.

Good idea but could be messed with. You would have to be present during the sample taking from parents to make sure it's the right dogs being tested, then test the pup to see if it shares DNA from the parents.

I could see someone who could get a famous dog to produce taking one of their other dogs along and testing that dog then when it's bred the pups will have that dna but it wouldn't have the famous dogs dna but your pups will come up as a match when tested.

Relies on the testing company being very thorough and not being bribed or lied to.

I've been thinking about having my male DNA'd. The only agency I know of is the ADBA. The parents are so I figure what the heck. I feel good about the male I'm working with. Just thought it would good decision as long as everyone is honest. Then no need for papers....

All im saying is based on possibilities, not any factual evidence

Say someone owns two famous dogs they want to breed but maybe the stud is old and/or shooting blanks. What is stopping the breeder from using another stud sending the dna samples from that breeding and saying it is from both famous dogs. The puppy will have the dna of the Dam and Sire which will match the real sires dna registered as the famous dog.

Who takes the sample? Is it one of them home DNA testing kits? If so it's totally relying on the honesty of the breeder. If you wanted to be extra sure you could ask to test both the famous parents yourself and then compare to your pup afterwards. Not sure how well that would go down, lol.

I guess if you trust and respect a breeder enough with or without DNA then that is good enough. People been getting along fine all these years without testing, all down to TRUST.

If I bought a pup from the breeder and was unsure, for instance if pup looked like it was from another litter...I would simply ask for a swab lol. Grab the kit from the ADBA and ask him to prove himself. So if I suspect a male is not the sire and one that could be i would ask for both swabs, then compare to my pup.

I feel DNA profiling eliminates who the dog is off, if like any thing else is done in honesty.
Again when searching for future pups if needed, it would be nice to see if the dog is indeed registered
That the sire and damn are DNA profiled. Just me though..

Like on Maury..and the pup is 99.9% yours GR.CH. so and so..lol

I only found that site about an hour ago so haven't really checked it out yet. Found it from a post under a post in the history section of Diane Jessup's Ultimate Bulldog forum.

Another good one I found on there is even more concise, can search by dog name, breeder, kennels, dogman etc.

Historical photos, again only browsed the site briefly. I tend to share as soon as I see something then leave it to the experts as I am very green about reading into bull breeds.

Even if the DNA is correct that doesn't mean shit if the dog doesn't turn out. JM2C

With this breed TRUST will be handed over when goods are dilevered, put under a microscope and then checked again. I have done 3 dealings only one i question. But the amount i read about bad dealings you cant help but wonder for the most part i think you can trust the big kennels not that there are alot of good little guys. I heard people sending money to one of those big machobuck kennels and getting nothing or sick dogs. In this day and age i will pay 2 grand for a nice dna tested, beautiful paper pup with lots of ROM dogs up close.

If you need dna to verify the thruth,,, your dealing with the wrong person...
Could you imagine if there was dna in maurices day,,, no one would have gave a shit as they were buying a dog from maurice and thats all they needed,,,
The day I dna a dog is the day I give them up...
Plus,,, there was a article where the authorities were linking dogs through dna...

According to the carver documentary he used to throw puppies from different litters in together then make up the pedigree based on which looked most like the parents, lol.

Damn didn't see that article...but it's not about me trusting where I got my dog from. I like the fact that they are DNA'd and no just like papers ,it won't make the dog but make me feel better. As great a breeder and dogman M.C was, wtf would he have to lie about anything. Hell they couldn't beat him so they still joined him..most anyway. With all the artificial inseminations being done if registered by the ADBA the male to my knowledge must be DNA'd.

There's no way in hell i would buy from someone I didn't trust. All pups are chances in my book, some just have better chances than others. I just like the fact a persons being honest if he is willing to DNA his dogs....JMO

Dna and "papers" are a waste of money and time unless you dont trust who you get the dog from in which you shouldnt be dealing with them anyhow,,, unless your looking for trouble,,, dont go looking...
Find a like minded breeder to get dogs from,,, unless you dont trust yourself than that wont work...

I have only bred off my yard several times! I don't trust anybody especially since there charging the money they are now! The whole dog thing has changed so much from when I started! You got A pup or breeding only because they knew you'd do right with it! Now every pound across America is filled with unwanted bulldogs! Back then you came into the dogs because it was meant to be! or you were in the right place at the right time. Now you just need A pocket full of cash and pray your getting what you paid for! Don't mind me though this is about the extent of my bulldog philosophy!!

  19. Jacob

    Jacob Top Dog

You speak 100% truth Trotline and Cajun but for lots they take their chances cause you just aint getting no other breed. I think the pounds are full because of byb dogs, and a whole lot of reasons. But if you paid alot for a dog i think the chance becomes really slim for just wanting to get rid of it. i really think the pound is full of "here i got you a gift" to "i need some money man" puppies. thats just my bulldog philosophy.
