Damn Birds!!

Discussion in 'Products & Equipment' started by 3P Kennels, Jun 2, 2007.

  1. Is there anything i can put out in the kennels that will keep most of the birds out of the dogs food? [IMG]
Tess's kennel is the only one that the birds go after. The rest of the dogs chase the birds, but Tess just lays there and watches at them.
Is there a special type of feeder or bowl i can use to help with this?

pellet gun....i use a rubber snake on my blue berry plants but the dog would probally eat it..i would think if you placed a bird feeder with bird seed..they would leave the dog food alone.

Yeah, a nice little BB gun will do the trick. I myself don't let the food sit out there more than 20 mins. I usually take the rest of the uneaten food away.

put you up a fake owl in the general area.that should do the trick.

Depending on the birds, the owl may work.

We tried the owl approach to keep the birds from doing their early AM chatter fest by the bedroom window. It worked for a few weeks.

Then the blue jay decided to take out the owl.

Wish I could, but it's not allowed in my neighborhood.

Birde almost got that bastard bird a few times. She leaped into the air and snagged tail feathers.

You know, when I want to keep the birds out of my herb & vegetable garden I hand CD's on a string so that they can twirl around in the breeze and that seems to keep the birds out.

I dunno why, but it works. I have a BIG stack of all those AOL disks that everybody gets sent to them. I asked my neighbors to save them too.

I just drill a small hole in the top, string it on fishing line and leave it.

oh you must live in a suburb or a city neighborhood.don't know why but i always forget that not everyone lives in the country.that cd idea sounds good reckon that the shining light might have something to do with keeping them at bay, could be the shape though to.

Yep, a rural suburb and I hate it.

Can't wait until my oldest graduates from HS and we're moving. I want more land and less neighbors.

We are having more birds than usuall here also. I have a .22 with a bull barrel on it. It is very acurate. Thing is, I used up a box of shells this morning, and it dont even look like I put a dent in them!!

You can get a pellet gun that will shoot as fast as a .22. I have one. The .22 is just alittle faster on the reloads!

Also, I have found some dead in the yard that I hadnt shot, and it turns out that the neighbor down the road has a cat. He said the cat has been catching the birds and playing with them, and he felt like the cat was killing them, just they died later on, either way, I dont like them things!!

I've seen the C.D. thing used in many gardens around here so I am assuming it works. LOL.

I've also seen where a gentleman mounted the head of a deer on a post to keep the deer out of his garden. Apparently the proximity of a dead cohort tends to keep the offenders from trying out their luck in the area as well. Might not smell nice after a while but it worked. Time to make some bird kabobs?

There are two methods to keep deer away that work to keep them out of my hostas.

    1) The dog. We let Petey pee in the area outside the fence where the hostas are and the deer steer clear.

    2) Gold Bond footpowder in the blue container and cayene pepper mixed together and sprinkled on the leaves and around the plant at night. Have to re do it every 5 - 7 days though.

gamo or gammo dont remember shoots 1000 fps..serious pellet gun..i just worry if the dog eats the bird with the pellet its lead..so i use a crossman with steel bbs..works great and is a lot of fun..gets to the point you wish they would come back.dogs love the hunt also.as soon as you click the gun they know it.

I got a Winchester that shoots 1300fps. After I shoot the bird, it gets picked up. Ants love dead birds!
