Sitting out here on the back porch and a fire truck went down the road thats about a mile across the fields and woods with the siren on. Some of the dogs here on the yard and the neighbors coonhounds always howl at the sirens. They had just started when I heard a different yelp/howl. Looked up across the soybean field and at about 300 yards was a coyote howling, I'm guessing at the fire truck unless it was just to get the dogs fired up good like they do between midnight an 4am. Just seemed wierd to hear it howling with the sirens going. lol

hunters that use calls, will use a siren as a locator for coyotes.

Thanks Mark, learn something new most everyday. lol Yeah Jacko it made me laugh when I heard it do it. Slipped up on one of them in the neighbors garden last night eating tomatoes. Got within 40 feet and the wind changed. Must of scared him good when he turned and saw me. Yelped and jumped up in the air and trying to run all at the same time. When his feet did hit the ground he was gone. lol Was to dark to get a pic.

Lol No shit. Everytime one is in the pasture field behind the house (about 20 acres) I have to talk myself out of turning one of the dogs loose. I think it pisses one little bitch off cause its free and she's chained. lol She hits the chain hard and will bite the ground and shake clumps of grass. Funny as hell. A couple of dogs have accidently jerked loose while walking them and nailed some rabbits. Gotta learn to hold the leash tighter I guess. lol

Ive called coyotes since junior high and for some damn reason I can no longer pull the trigger on one...Ive had them get within 30 feet of me before i stood up to shu them off...they are smart as hell and took alot of calls before i was able to get them that close....for some reason the more dogs I put on the yard the fewer yotes ive seen close to the house....always had my best luck with a mouth call...pup wine. Try it sometime

Recording of a dying rabbit works good on foxes. Dont know on coyotes. LWG, I think Lee D hunts them.

Rabbit call works good too but for some reason the pup wine brought them in faster....never hunted them with dogs...them are alot smarter than people think so ide like to see someone try that myself

It is an absolute blast with the dogs or a nice AR. Popped one with the SKS at 100 yards, beautiful shot. We don't use bulldogs on them but you could if they are close but in running the distance most bulldogs don't have the speed behind them to stay up with yote but I had a bulldog that smashed one when the coyotes were called in but most bulldogs are not smart enough to shut up when they get close.

Thanks for welcome :) The APBT ... The breed's tenacity and accompanying strength are unmatched in the canine world. Personality could play a role.. Some dogs just don't want to fight, Any pitbull with experience fighting vs a wild coyotee is no match in a ring.

I used to have cats. When I moved to my current house in 2002 (brought cats), I would hear coyotes at night. I got dogs in 2003, and made a dog door. The cats got in the habit of going outside through the door. One disappeared one day, and another a few days later. I didn't really put 2 and 2 together until I called animal control, and they told me, based on my location, that coyotes got them. I was ready to buy a .223 to hunt the bastards down. But since I technically live in the city, that would have been illegal. As time went by, I came not to hold too much of a grudge against the coyotes. Cats go missing around me all the time though, and I still hear the howling at night.

I went to see the home that we are closing on today, it has 6 acres of wooded area. I tried walking a little of it to check out the arrangement of the kennel set up and I was amazed by all the dog tracks in the snow. Thinking in my head that we may have problems. I'm not worried about 1 on 1, just worried about coyote packs. Any input might help cause I'm in love with the house, shit the drive way is like 200 meters long

i would think they would stay away....but if you only have one dog...and especially if its old or a pup....i wouldnt risk it lol...a pack can prolly pick one off easily
