WELL I think i will tackle tha Y.I.S. ????? That simply means YOURS IN SPORT then the writers name should appear. NOW tha sport can refer to events LIKE weight pullin, hog huntin, and conformation. It is kinda like a sign.( I.E. YOURS TRULY, SINCERLY, ETC. )These dogs can do it all.

Never not ask a question around here for fear of feeling ignorant. The reason this forum is here is to educate people and trade views and opinions on a breed of dog we all have a pssion for.

I don't quite understand why folks call a bitch a gyp, as from what I had been told once before, gyp means a bitch that can no longer have pups...so with that definition, I think alot of folks use the term gyp wrong. This is just what an ole timer had told me....

Being an old timer gyp`s were refered to as bitch dogs that couldnt produce. I still refer to them as such.

Well, I dont really know the true meaning of the word "gyp" but I know it's not only used by people with these types of dogs. The word is actually a lot older than people may think it is though. I'm not sure about the deal with it meaning a female who can't produce, I've never heard that before.

I think as time went on most people began referring to all bitch dogs as gyps, but originally the gyp dog was a bitch that couldnt produce and I guess that could also depend on what part of the country you are from.
