    Similar but opposite...

My son went undefeated at his weight throughout middle school. He lost about half of his matches when he had to move up. His deal was more the mental approach than anything. He too had to win three at his weight to get to the final and then move up. He was mentally crushed that he had to wrestle up in the final. There was an upset in the other semi and he was on the mat with a kid 15lbs heavier but he had beaten him twice earlier in the season. Never recovered from the mental part and lost early.

He rolled once for nearly 8 hours in a seminar with Gustavo Muchado. They worked on the triangle choke until for a 12 year old he was really good at slipping in and locking up and that was on another kid doing BJJ.

At that weekends conference wrestling tournament this kid grabbed him almost like a head lock and when they went to the floor I seen him go to side control and start working. When I recognized what he was doing I started yelling "No". The other wrestling parents were screaming like the kids were in all out life or death combat (crazy set of fans). As he slipped it in I was just about to the mat as the other kid was wrestling and had no idea he needed to tap. And he wrestled his way out he was actually making the triangle easier and more effective. As the kid started to go out, luckily enough, his shoulders hit the mat and the ref called the pin. The kid was noticeably groggy and another second or so and he would have been out like a light. He did not know to tap and the referee did not recognize the BJJ hold.

I was close to being the parent that goes onto the mat/field. It scared me as without the pin the kid would have been out and without the pin my son is not letting up. Not a good combination.

I tried to correct him but all he could say was, "I won".

Being a fan of winners, I did the Dad thing and explained why he was wrong in his approach but wicked proud on the inside.

    Agreed.

But if you took two top notch, evenly skilled, world class shoot wrestlers and one has 20lbs on the other I am betting on the big guy.

That is where the wrestlers made strides to the forefront and even created separation to the other styles. Couple that with conditioning and they were at the top.

It is different sports and even different species, but big dogging is big dogging.

size is an advantage almost everywhere, shoot wrestling later evolved with vale tudo and vale tudo turned into Emma (with rules albeit). its the only fighting sport that I consider to be reliable and realistic to the bone as far as fighting goes

  6. Big doggin is a worn out homosexual concept that dies more as combat sport evolves. the big guy isn’t always the baddest. And I’m not a biased small guy either. I’m just a fan of smaller built combat athletes, bulldog gamedog athletes, etc they tend to be more entertaining , better stamina, faster, more explosive, better display, graceful in movement

  7. There was a boomer guy who said to me “I won’t ever watch mma again until there are huge bad 6’5 guys fighting going against each other” and I just said to him “Its evolution. This isn’t your 80s and 90s anymore faggot, maybe go watch WWE”

  8. Irrelevant anyway.
Football players, hockey players, basketball players, baseball players aren’t impressive. If you ever see them fight, it’s a small spurt and they get winded as fuck.
And it’s not Entertaining. Their just good at playing with balls.

They don’t have those type of high tier hard skills like wrestlers and mixed martial artists

They have ball playing skills . Big deal. Unarmed combat? Pure sport? No can do.

Technically I think a lot of folks are lost without sports on and since it's covid19s fault they aren't on it's sort of kind of relevant. Lmao.

Thankfully bama started it's own thread topic. I'm sure we'll all derail that thread too.. We all need ADHD evals, what can I say. =))

148 ( confirmed/tested corona victims) passed at here today.

But the real death rate is higher, lot of people died with the symptons, but they don't get tested before or after, just burried and not as an corona victim.

They are all running behind the facts, watch what gonna happen in the third world country's, the refugee camps and so on, it is the great cleaning up all over the globe.

That's all I do is clean. I'm pretty compulsive about it. This time off has been kind of good for me in a way. I spend all day with my daughter and dogs. What's better than that? It has allowed me to get a ton of shit done I simply never have time to do or finish and I absolutely love being home anyways. It's where most of my money goes and I want to get every penny out of it I can lol. It'll hurt in a few weeks though unless this stimulus crap actually happens along with my unemployment going through ok. If that happens I'll be making more to stay at home so It's hard to complain at the moment.

My company pretty much won't stop. I'm out this week as a precautionary after an infusion. It may last til next week.

One of the debates we have at work is that the guy that can work from home (get paid), stay at home (get paid) or draw unemployment (get paid) will stay at home. The guy whose only option to get paid is to go to work will do so, and he will do that with the sniffles, low grade fever and a slight cough. And this shit spreads.

We dealt with people coming to work and passing the flu around and I sent emails, we had meetings and I am not sure how many times there has to be some sort of relief in either compensation or attendance violations. If not a guy is not going to give up his livelihood for the first signs of the flu.

Lots of companies are chasing the dollar and chasing that dollar has helped the spread.

It is sad but I understand.

Thoughts and prayers to each and everyone.

The same here. I live in Yellowville right now. I think we will get some rain the first of the week.

I sent a kid home from work last week because he had a slight fever, sneezing and watery eyes. He assured me it was his allergies but there is no way to know the difference. Possibly til it is too late.

I'm out of work right now but I will go back next weekend. I'm thankful for the fact we should stay open throughout but worried that it only takes one person to not take precautions and it is 'Katie bar the door'.

    Scary times.
