just thought id generate a little x files type of thread.

    Couple things

First I read the bible completely through, next I read the book series Left Behind, next I watch the discovery channel, then i read a National Geographics, and have came to the conclusion that something fishy is going on. I know yall are good at thinking outside the box in this manner, so im posting this to see what you all think. Keep in mind I am not Christian, but do believe in Jesus Christ..:dogstare:

Now for the detail about each of the things i noticed above. New Testament was first. Good basis of knowledge and indight, obviously from above. Good principles, practices, and ideas/visions - which ever you like.

Old Testament was next. Loved reading every page, of every book, and advise everyone to do this atleast once. You will gain understanding.

Discovery Channel last night had some conspiracy theories on in a show compiled of many things in this subject. I noticed that they use airplane to make it rain, and many other things on this show that were wild to ponder, but seemed oddly familiar.

Today as i am reading the National Geographic, the actual physical copy:), and noticed that there is an article on desert rings. Anyone read that article in the Sept 13 issue yet?
That is very oddly familiar also and i just wanted to know if anyone else has been on this type of jouney.

This is just the ice breaker on this thread, if it stays up, for it can be viewed from all aspects, i believe. Please add you thoughts and if this is out of line mods, just let me know.

    thanks for what you add.

just read the old testament and you will know they're doing things different in the new testament . the bible is mathematics and about the stars if you read it . jesus said to pay alone so why are we paying in churches ?

  6. St. Ides

    St. Ides Big Dog

Not really. It's just a shift of perspective which makes it seem different. Also context is critically important when reading and understanding the Bible. There is nothing wrong or hypocritical about praying in church.

All I'll say is you are wrong. The OT is full of laws directed at a Jewish theocracy, set in place to be followed by the nation when the temple had control. Once the temple collapsed and the nation of Israel dispersed, so did many of the ceremonial and judicial laws of the nation. Christianity is an evolution or growth of Judaism that is only required to follow the moral laws (10 commandments). This is why we are allowed to wear mixed fibers of clothing and eat shellfish.

The point of not praying in public was a direct response the hypocritical rabbis during the time of Jesus that on the outside deemed themselves righteous and make a fiasco out of how devoted they were, when they were in fact not following many of the laws they were condemning the nation for. Praying in church is a sign of fellowship which is why Jesus gave open sermons and is not hypocritical to his teachings.

lol...I guess that wasn't all I was going to say.

OG, jesus doesnt say anything in the old testiment as it was before christ.....

The Old Testament was written primarily in Hebrew (a few short
passages in Aramaic). Approximately one hundred years (or more)
before the Christian Era the entire Old Testament was translated
into the Greek language. Our English Bible is a translation from these
original languages. The New Testament was written in Greek.

The Old Testament is the covenant God made with the people about
their salvation before Christ came. The New Testament is the
agreement God made with the people about their salvation after
Christ came. The Old Testament is an account of a nation (the Jewish
nation). The New Testament is the account of a man (the Son of
man). The nation was founded and cultivated by God to in order to
bring the Man into the world (Genesis 12:1-3). God Himself became a
man (John 1:14; 14:9). His time spent on earth is the core event f all
history. The Old Testament prepares us: for Christ's appearance and
earthly mission. The New Testament describes it.

In the Old Testament we find the covenant of the law. In the New
Testament we find the covenant of grace that came through Jesus
Christ. One led into the other (Galatians 3:17-25).

The Old Testament commences what the New Testament completes.
The Old gathers around Mt. Sinai, the New around Mt. Calvary. The
Old is associated with Moses, the New with Christ (John 1:17).

The Old Testament begins with God (Genesis 1:1). From Adam to
Abraham we have the history of the human race. From Adam to
Abraham to Christ we have the history of the chosen race. The New
Testament begins with Christ (Matthew 1:1). From Christ we have the
    history of the Church.

I'm not really down with the term "christian"...to me it has way to many negative stigmas, and people that use it for their own personal gain, boasting and many other things. Not only that but it is in the bible 3 times, and every single time it's used as a derogatory term..meaning "little Christ". Perhaps the term "Christ follower" would be more appropriate for those that really are and that's between them and God and not for me to judge or say. The only person that really knows where they are on their walk is that person. Hard as it may be sometimes you should show love, grace, and mercy to all. We all fall short I know and believe this to be true at least with me in day to day life, but I give it hell.

The first recorded use of the term (or its cognates in other languages) is in the New Testament, in Acts 11:26, after Barnabas brought Saul (Paul) to Antioch where they taught the disciples for about a year, the text says: "[...] the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." The second mention of the term follows in Acts 26:28, where Herod Agrippa II replied to Paul the Apostle, "Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian." The third and final New Testament reference to the term is in 1 Peter 4:16, which exhorts believers: "Yet if [any man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf."
