Any suggestions Rock N Rye ? As I do appreciate him offering to give me a pup, I am not the type of individual to take something for free. I will be making a financial contribution to the camp or doing something to show the depth of my gratitude for there sincere gesture of kindness.

You are completely correct Rock n Rye. Was more so just curious on your opinion. I have only owned the AM-Staff's / larger pitbull bloodlines through out my life however this will be our first "TRUE APBT". Is it accurate to say that other than the obvious traits such as intense prey drive etc., that I can still expect them to maintain a sound temperament with people ? The dogs I have owned through out the course of my life have never shown human aggression ever. I want to make sure that I will be coming home with the same trait as far as that is concerned. Any and all thoughts and words of wisdom are appreciated as always. Thanks in advance guys !

No disrespect but if this is your first bulldog, you'll probably be in for a wide awakening. With the caliber of dogs you were always inquiring about I assumed you have had real dogs before.I do wish you and your family luck with the pup though, when you do get it.

No disrespect taken Treez........ My dogs are /were NOT "race ready" if you will, but they still had plenty of drive and power @ 70-80lbs conditioned. With that being said, I have no issues what so ever controlling a dog with drive and power, especially since they will be much smaller than what I am use too. My only question was there temperament for children as I have never owned a true APBT and do not know how they interact with them. The dogs I owned have always been very gentle and loving towards people. Especially children. Very protective, love to play with them, etc. Can I expect the same sustainable demeanor from the true APBT ? I have heard both good and bad sides. Would very much appreciate everyone's input. Especially since we are possibly going to be expanding our family here in the near future. Thanks again fella's.

Never leave a child alone with any breed of dog you never know what can happen.

Its funny that those who acted like he couldn't get one off this camp are just as lucky to get stock from the real dogmen they got dogs from and they don't even know it. I won't name names, but you know who you are.

I don't if they are very small children just as a general rule of thumb. However there have been many occasions where I have left my dogs outside in the fenced in back yard unattended with my daughter and some of the neighborhood kids (8-12) while they play soccer. It is very funny to watch. The kids use to set up little goals in the back yard and each team got a dog. Tazz on one side and Scary Blueberry on the other. Kids would kick the ball around and one of the dogs would take it , run down to the other end and then drop it when the children told them too so they could kick it in. If I could figure out how to upload videos from my iphone to here I post them up. It is absolutely hilarious. They also would never, ever, be aggressive with the soccer ball as some dogs are prone to be toy possessive. I want to be able to have that kind of reassurance in my next dog. Is it possible with the APBT ? I know they are far more animal aggressive than most........but other than that I have been told they still are very people friendly ?

Following up, I also have been told that the "blue muts" as they are referred to around here lol, are much more prone to human aggression as opposed to the real APBT. I have owned a couple and never had that issue at all...... Maybe I just got lucky with mine ? From what I hear the real APBT has a much more stable temperment than most dogs, as long as it is not pertaining to other animals. Feed me knowledge guys, I am here to learn.

I wouldn't try that soccer thing with any APBT I know. I wouldn't leave them unattended with children either. Prey drive is a very real thing. A bunch of kids runnin and screaming may be ok with some dogs, others see it as somethin to chase and catch. Younger children usually run and scream out of play when chased, the dog just sees an opportunity. That's where the supervision comes in to correct the child and the dog. Ain't nothin like ownin a "real" APBT as you call it, but they can be A LOT of work... Some you have to treat like Hannibal Lector, others are laaaaaaiid back. Have you seen any of their dogs in person to see how they interact with ppl, especially kids?

I have not as of yet been able to meet CVK or any of his dogs, but they are located about 10-15 minutes from a couple rental homes that I own. So hopefully I will be able to sooner rather than later. Thanks for the insight C-Note. I know what you mean about the kids running and screaming part. For me though I trusted my animals to the extent that I knew them like the back of my hand not only to behave themselves because that's how I raised / socialized them, but because they love children. I may not feel the same level of comfort with others however....... It was a refreshing feeling though because when I first moved out of Atlanta and into the suburbs my neighbors about shit a brick because they saw my dogs and they have kids of there own. Now they come over and knock on the door, "Mr. Brett, Mr. Brett, can we play with the dogs ? Our parents said its ok!" It's nice to see people change there mind from one end of the spectrum to the other. Especially when it is in accordance to the breed that we all love so much, yet has the worst reputation. I feel like it puts a better image out there for stand up respectable dogmen as a whole. Just my opinion.

I know this is off topic however I have a question that maybe someone here can answer.... ? My family for the majority is from the Midwest and Florida and my last name is Orr. I remember as a kid my grandfather & uncle both had several pitbulls. Does anyone know who the owner of "Orr's Dolly" was? I was curious if it was someone that I am related too as "Orr" is not a very common last name. If you don't feel comfortable answering here you can PM me. Thanks guys !
