Yep Baker Davis used a swim tank,,,
and the dogs would have made a smaller weight if he didnt,,,lol...

They say the leverage of a swimmer is superior and I am sure the muscle on the tail helps...

Lol I can't vouch for the tail but a swim tank or hole depending on how country you are will def puts some legs under your dog

Thick tail, long hair, small head, big head, short or long legs, Midnight Cowboy was the Truth. It really doesn't matter what they look like, Winning and Producing Winners is what it's all about. That old blood is still sought after to this very day, and still winning too.

Looks like a dam mutt in this picture. Yet this old Colby hound produced winning pit dogs. Let's not forget the post TDK made on an old thread, ( Scatter bred ) He was good friends with Maurice Carver. I will never forget when T said , before anyone jumps funny, I have personally heard Maurice talk about his hounds and laugh. He flat didn't give a dam whether you knew how his dogs where really bred. He stated according to TDK, a quote that some of you all have heard, That a dog just isn't a real dog unless it's got some Colby in it. I personally had never heard that quote before. Yet it makes since to me looking back. From the late 1890's till the 1970's a man would be proud to own a pure Colby hound as they were bred in the pit for the pit. Also the Colby family didn't care what you wanted to call it or how you registered it ect. If they did, can you imagine how many Rom dogs the Colby line would really have? You know the man behind the dogs is 50% of the hounds we are going to get. Maurice Carver was one of the best that has ever done it. He hung paperwork, so what. Them old Henry hounds were more than likely a big part of Midnight Cowboy, and so many others crossed with corvino, colby, Lightner, ect. I was looking back at some old peds, as I'm a fan of Three dog knights blood line. He got a few directly from Maurice.

Very nice family of Bulldogs. The Silver Fox was respected and some folks to this very day believe He was The Best there ever was. I personally respect any and all of the old timer's that bred bulldogs. I'm a big fan of R. Crabb Three dog knights family also.
