Can a game bred dog still be socialized?

So I purchased a game bread pup and u was wondering if I can train her not to be so hot and try to snatch anything with fur that comes too close!?

I don't know what "game bread" is but even a game bred dog can be trained to do anything you want it to be depends on how much time you are willing to put into the dog, now I've had some stupid dogs that will scream and chew on their chain 24/7 for no particular reason walking them during happy hour is a problem as they try to snatch every animal in front of them, then I've had some calm ones that would not even bother looking at another dog, but once in hog hunt mode a switch gets flipped. So I would say it depends on the dog as much as work you are willing to put in.

Yea but then you're just training the dog. You're not making the dog "less hot". The dog is still whatever it is, you're not changing the dog's natural prey drive or dog aggression.

You probably would if better been off with petbull... You can train a game bred to listen to you but there is a reason why people say that not everyone should own game bred and game dogs... I would never trust a game bred dog with other animals... Now if I'm there I can control behavior on my dog but even then it's a challenge... Now if I'm not there, I make sure he is on his chain spot and has no access to another animal..

Honestly who cares, if you bring home a bulldog then ask that question you got no buissness owning a bulldog. Lets stop over analizing all these stupid questions by green horns. Ok,you get a game bred APBT and then want it to go against it's genetic nature.Why did you want one? It may or may not be able to be done,not all game bred APBT's are hot,some are even cold but if you didn't want that you sure stack the odds against you by getting one. In doing that you didn't do yourself or the dog any favors.Good luck with the dog and hopefully it'll work out for you.

Some of you guys are complete ass holes and if you wanted to run your mouth your bitch would be a better listener. Pardon the typo auto correct is something else but thanks for the folks with the good advice and fyi I'm not green either and I've owned and raised game dogs for years growing up but I haven't had a dog I had years and now live in a residential area and want to eliminate anything that could be a potential problem. Also if I wanted a bully I would have bought one ass hole!!

As far as the typo "bred or bread" I really just don't care,I'm not an english teacher,as long as I can read it,I'm happy.Just wondering why someone would get a good game bred dog and want the added problems of trying to get it not to hit everything in reach. When that's what we breed for,gameness,drive etc etc. I'll also be the last person to recommend a bully,because I think it is a black eye on our breed,and think they're horrible examples of dogs usually.

The only answer that will prevent you from going to the doggie park is no. No you can't train your dog not to snatch anything with fur that gets too close. If your dog wants to hit something then it will, like what has been said some are relaxed and some are just on all the time. Either way please take the proper precautions with your dog and try to not have any accidents. It only adds to the negativity our breed is already dealing with, good luck
