awsome to pretty much live in the woods man.
im looking on building a den or setting up a camp in one of the local woods.
    its a nice little project.
but it will take a bit longer then it would coz i aint got the time.
just a frame really and some seats what you could set a tent up in.
im new to bushcraft things to be honest..
and we aint got lots of animals in the woods the way you folks have..
i bet you got all kinds in your woods Bama?

  6. Fuck that shit man...stalked by a big cat.no wonder AGK wont were a deer robe lol..
and Black Bear man....get your dog on one of them lol.
A biggish Bulldog will wreck a small one i think..

So whats the diffrence and whats the biggest between moutian lions, bob cats, and panthers?
i bet they can all put a nasty fight up against the dogs?

Mountain Lions and Panthers get pretty big and over the last few years it looks to me bobcat are getting bigger.Bobcat be the smallest and its rare we have a Mountain Lion sighting around here but it does happen time to time.I got a friend lives 10 miles from me and got a picture of one on his game cam.I never got into a mess between my dogs and a big cat.

  8. Im still thinking how scary it would be to be stalked by a big cat mate..

Did not Dogos hunt big cats?..be a good farm dog in your enviroment.
    good with horses to lol.
i like the way the to brothers built them up for Hogs and big cats.they like a big Bulldog with no desire to fight with each other just fight as a pack...i think it was a Bulldog but with out crosses to Great Danes(big European Boar Hounds)...but not sure?as theres a few thoughts as to what made the Doggo.
    nice working dogs.

And if the cats in your area are getting bigger.then you can garentee its because of the food there eating..
    more food.bigger looking cats..
i see it all the time round here with ferel cats.
it starts of round here like this..every house has a cat.or two...every farm has a few cats around the place to.
fields and woods inbetween the houses and farms.
its common someones cat goes missing..runs ferel.
farm cats breed.farmer drownds them.next litter cat takes deeper on to the farm or into woods.
these cats are pets that weight a normal size witch would be between 8-10 lbs.
there ofspring what are wild and live a wild life to..are much bigger.
near double the size!.and after a generation or so they all revert back to a dark color.brindle like a bob cat.or black...
now thats the truth.and i see it all the time..and thats just with small pet cats what have turend ferel..
big cats eat a lot more...and with the amount of game and provanda in your woods-its no wonder there going big.
i love all animals...but cats are a bad pest.
theres a ferel cat in a wood i visit quite oftern.and you can sqweek him to about 20 ft from ya.
he is black and ide say he weighs a good 17 -18lbs in weight.

    Just thought ide say.

Man its scary on a beautiful sunny Fall day with little wind.Woods is alive with birds chirping and squirells running every where and then BAM complete silence. You can hear your footsteps crunching the leaves and also hear his crunching the leaves behind you but you cant see him.First he was matching my footsteps so I picked up a good pace and then stopped real quick and he took a couple extra steps and I knew then something was behind me and he knew then that I knew he was there lol. This went on for a few miles and finally a open field .I didn't turn around right away and waited bout 25 yrs .I knew if I turned around to quick he wouldn't come out and if you dont turn around quick enough then he got you.I.played it perfect amd turned around to see big Black Panther .I put the beed of my 12 gauge loaded with buck shot right between his eyes and I paused amd he paused and I let him go.We casually went our separate ways .I was 12 yrs old at the time.

You would need a couple dogs even for a black bear imo. They get up to 6’ tall on a good size one. They are easily man size and much stronger

I think dogs that would be good at distraction are the best in theae situations that can stay out of reach and work as a team. .IMO not one that would actually attack. If their is a tree around both Cats and Bears are going to climb it if being chased then you got your shot.

Bama, I always believe the kids when they tell a 'big one', LOL

    True story.

In the 80's there was a guy here deep into the birds. In his travels he ended up with two alligators. He put them in a pond that was fenced in. When the birds did not work out he tossed them over the fence. over the years it was sort of forgotten and most around here assumed they could not live in our winters.

Some years back around 94 or 95 we had a hurricane come thru and knocked down some trees which in turn knocked down the fence. Being afraid of being in trouble he never said anything.

About a mile away a guy my dad worked with for years lived with his kids and grandkids.

Jesse comes running in and says, "papa there is an alligator at the pond". And like all grand parents he says, " kid there are no alligators around here but lets go look". When he got there Jesse pointed at the bank and says there he is Papa. My pop's friend said I do not see anything. And then it came off the bank, hit the water, and out of sight barley creating a ripple.

Animal Control came out and the state came and set traps. Two days later they caught a 7 foot alligator in rural NC, no where close to being down east at the coastal areas.

They spotted the second one and set traps. They never caught him and eventually gave up.

Locally we know he was caught sunning on the bank and got put down, then buried on the farm, as the cost for killing one is in the thousands.

So if a kid runs and and says he saw >>>>>>>>, Seriously look into it. LOL

Lol Slim I didnt even tell my dad the story on the panther till a couple yrs down the road and was surprised when he told me he has heard them scream but hadnt saw one yet.

  17. Intresting that about the dogs staying out of range...but would you hunt a Bear with a knife and Bulldog?
that would be scary lol..then you would need a dog to go in and attack lol.

I read a book were the hunter used this method and said it was the most noblest way to hunt this beast...i remember thinkng noble for sure.but fucking highly dangerous lol.

the book witch was published in the 1890s is called "thirteen years among the wild beasts of India"..by G.P.Sanderson....

Well worth a read to anyone whos intrested .and its a pretty cheap book.
