We had a Southern Sportsman Men's Supper a couple of months ago. There were several nice guns there to be given away on ticket stubs.

One of the items was 16 tons of gravel delivered. I told my buddy it must be a sign of age. I looked right past the guns and what nots and said I hope I win that gravel.

It is a nice looking rifle. Knocked down a bunch of deer as a young kid with a .270.

    Good luck on the haggling.

Nice gun. I shot a bolt action ruger M77 .270 for many years. Before I gave it to my daughter. I prefer my 30.06 but the .270 is a nice fast straight shooting round.
The gun in the photo is my .270. Won it too at a gun raffle. I have 16 guns and only bought 3 of them. My pops and I love the gun raffles.

Yes ours is put on as a Christian fellowship. It is built around prayer and reaching out to young people.

The items are donated and then the tickets are drawn after eating and a fellowship sermon.

It is centered around hunting and fishing. The best line was by one of the pastor's. "Even though it is hunting and fishing, we are in the church's fellowship hall".

The fish got smaller and the bucks not quite so tall and not so wide. Funny how the church can reel in a great story to a good story.

The .270 worked wonders when I was a young kid. We lived on the farm and I grew up working for my uncle. He had big soybean fields and the deer would do damage every year. We would pop them to keep them out of the fields. The .270 worked well.

It was a fine line. It was his livelihood and although there are some special permits he would not get one. It was a constant battle with the game wardens. One morning we were in a local store eating breakfast. In walked a game warden and said "If you shoot one more of my deer your ass will be mine". My uncle, old and set in his ways, somewhat of a good hearted southern grouch said. "Keep your deer out of my beans and I can eat my breakfast in peace".

That .270 dropped a bunch back then.
