Breeding Question(?)

    Is it acceptable to breed a puppy w/ its own sire? Tks.

    Depends what you're trying to achieve. And I'd word your question differently because you shouldn't be breeding with puppies. I'll also add that if you're on here asking these kinds of questions you shouldn't be breeding at all.

    How would you word it? Also, I don't want to breed. I noticed in my dogs history, one of his ancestors was breed to his own offspring.

    Oh, I see. My point on the wording is that there are people who breed bitches on their first heat (essentially puppies having puppies). No good. I would have worded it something like "daughter to sire" or something. And yes, it's nothing uncommon. Have a look around at some peds around here and elsewhere.

    Sorry to have gotten you wrong but there are lots of people on forums that ask questions like this and are intending to make a quick buck breeding without knowing what they're doing.
     
  5. They bred the daughter back to the father because there was something they liked about the sire and they did not want to bring other genes into the pool. The dog would be double bred on the sire.
