from historical accounts or statistics you may have heard,

suppose that you breed two dogs that are very game themselves and also have the pedigree to back this up. on average, how much % of the pups would also be very game themselves???

i know that this varies and you may get none from a single breeding, but that's what i mean when i say on average.

i know it's a theoretical question, but i'm looking for a rough figure here not exact statistics. is it gonna be half of them?, most of them? few of them?

theoretically that would depend on, at what percentage rate how many were tested + some good luck:D

The percentage will depend more on who gets the dogs. If the whole litter goes into top notch dogmen hands, then to get 50% would be great. Anything more would be a very great return from the litter. Just look at those famous litters with above average results, the pups stayed with good dogmen. You take those same famous litters and give them to idiots and your percentages will be greatly reduced. Just look at the hollingsworth dogs, to Faron, they were junk and he was a big part of the loss of the line. JMO

It doesnt matter if they were in a five year olds hands,it simply isnt gonna effect their gameness purepit....

You can't teach true game, doesn't matter what kind of dogman you are.

ok, so assuming that all dogs are given to equaly great dogmen then, if you get a 50% true game it's considered good 'score' right?

    50% is good.
For those that think the owner doesn't matter, your crazy. Yes, you can't teach gameness, but to think that a inexperienced person can take proper care of a gamedog is just dumb. You know how many true game dogs are wasted everyday in the hands of idiots, a ton, dogs that would have been great in the hands of dogmen who know what they have on their yard. The most proliphic dogs in history wouldve been wasted in the hands of some of the idiots in the dogs today. 50% of a dog being a good dog, is based off of his owner. Dibo, Rascal, Honeybunch, Bo, and the list goes on. All these didn't show well on their first hunts, but the owners knew the potential of these dogs and put in the time and effort to allow these dogs to be great!!! Not many people in the dogs these days understand the importants of being a game dog owner, you gotta work for your dog just as hard as he works for you cause a dead game dog is no use to anyone. What is it today with people reading so much into my posts lol, game is game, yes OBVIOUSLY a good dog would be wasted in a five year olds hands or an inexperienced dogman as you put it purepit but that same dog in the best or worst hands in the world aint gonna be any more or less GAME with either.ill say again game is game no matter who you are your not gonna change or alter in any way that.read the OP again purepit your not answering the question, hes talking about the dogs heart/gameness not how many out of a litter is gonna make something of itself

Example: if you had an ace(in your eyes) that was raised by you its entire life and one day you decided to sell him/her and the new owner wanted to look at said dog and the dog stop pulling. Do you think said dog was not game, or just didn't have a bond with its new owner? Im with pure pit, the hands a dog is put in does have alot(not everything) to do with the overall turnout of a dog.

Alabama, I answered the OP in my first post, I think. If Ablizin sold you Luther after he won his second show, you don't think the dog would show differently in your hands as opposed to his. Unless you treat the dog exactly the same, feed him the same, walk him the same, and condition him the same or better then your dog will perform different.

Yes who has the dog has alot to do with how the dog turns out ie its record, condition etc etc,BUT STILL CANNOT CHANGE THE DOGS GAMENESS!!

YOUR NOT GONNA CHANGE THE DOGS GAMNESS,some one help me out here jesus!!!

Even if i did feed the same treat the same blah blah blah the dog will show different as im a different man,but change that core gameness your most certainly wont my friend.....

A dogs gameness is driven by his heart, and his willingness to endure. So if his heart and health are not 100% then his level of gameness will change. All dogs have their limits, all dogs have good days, and all dogs have bad days. Take your gamest dog and hunt him on a bad day and watch his level of gameness go down. JMO

I think two very game pit will produce many very game pups. But it will all depend on the owners hand, as in purepit is saying. Very game pits will go wrong in there schooling's.:D

I respectfully disagree with you there Bama. You can't change the dogs "potential" gameness. But, You can either add to it's "potential" gameness or take away from it's "potential" gameness. There are idiots in the dogs these days as there always have been, but now the idiocy is more widespread. A good dogman knows how to get 100% of that dog's "potential". While some idiot is only getting 40 to 50% of their dog's "potential". No matter the quality of the animal. An idiot could have a "potential" world-beater with the heart of a champion and all the tools but through lack of basic care and bonding and no knowledge of conditioning actually make this "potentially" excellent animal "stand the line" because his circulatory system is shutting down due a belly full of worms, low re blood cell count, improper nutrition, and a myriad of other things an idiot can let go wrong with a "potentially" excellent canine specimen. In answer to the OP though; 50% in a litter is decent. It depends on the # in the litter and how many make it to FULL adulthood with few to know complications. Gameness ain't written in stone. The main question a dogman would ask himself before putting that weight "out there" is "Is this sumbagun game enough to win?" And that was what mattered in his or her own mind. The answer would come soon enough.
