Bleeding after Breeding.

My Blue nose was bred to the sire on Dec. 21, and 24 just to make sure. I noticed her heat on dec.13 and the bleeding stopped dec 20. I stayed and watched both dogs and we never witnessed a tie , but penetration definitely happend and noticeable sperm dishcharge during mating. Today dec 25 I noticed her bleeding again. It seems just a tad lighter in color then the blood from the beginning of her heat, but none the less it's blood. There is no odor or discolored discharge. Also she seems a bit more tired then usual and hasn't ate much today.

So my question is: is it normal for female to continue to bleed even after breeding?

I think they have to tie. I have seen them tie and still not have puppies. Same dogs next heat got stuck and had puppies. Sometimes it all has to line up. I would not expect pups with no tie

Well I'm seeing signs of increased appetite and swelling and growth of her teats. I think she has a good chance at being pregnant with no tie. A couple times it seemed close, with the male hoping on one foot back and fourth and the. He would just dismount. Including one time when he pulled out , there was this suction cup sound with a load of sperm splatting the payment.

We bred Fila Brasileiros for awhile. My male mounted his female and tried and tried. He would enter and every time he entered she would pull away. We let them be together for three straight days. Same thing every day. He poked and she pulled. We gave up and planned for an AI on the next cycle. 63 days later she had 7 puppies. Four males looked just like my male spit them out.

7 puppies. Three attempts. No ties.

If your dog was bleeding on the 13th odds are she was still in heat on the 25th. Depending on when she really came in, before the 13th, the breeding on the 21st after 8 days may have been early. The no tie was more than likely because she was not ready or the male was too young and just trying. The breeding on the 24th has a better chance. Without doing actual testing, when the light colored stuff came out she was ready. If she started bleeding on the 13th her best days would be somewhere between the 25th and 27th.

The loss of appetite, being lethargic at the end of a cycle is normal as most anything a bitch does during that time can be normal. The increased appetite afterwards is also normal. Without testing and X rays, only time will tell.

I'm willing to bet it's a false pregnancy. Either way good luck. It's not impossible but fairly unlikely a dog takes without the tie. They ejaculate in 3 stages, flush, semen, flush. What you heard splat on the floor was most likely the flush unless he was knotted up when he did it. I'm curious to see how this turns out. I've heard a story or 2 like slim posted but it's not a common thing. I'm going with a false pregnancy. Keep us updated.

This just came to me, if you bred her late December it's unlikely you will see any signs right now, she would only be 2 weeks in.

Mine is the only one I have personally been involved in and have been told by my vet it could not have happened.
I carried my male Fila to his house. My male was trying to kill him and his female the same with me. He went in the fence leashed her up. I went to the other gate and turned my dog inside. He let his go. He went to work and she pulled away. We watched from the deck. He mounted her a number of times over the three days we tried. They never tied.

It was a scatter breeding (like most showing breeds). When she gained weight and got big boobies we both called it a false pregnancy. He woke up one morning with 7 new pups. If the four males did not look like my male spit them out I would have doubted him as the sire.

My best guess has always been he was pumping, ready to knot and she pulled away. Enough swimmers made it to make 7 pups. Not exactly a modern medical explanation but it was always the best we could give.

Also my female was very excepting. She would flag and raise her vulva, only time she would pull away is if he came on too aggressive. But for the most part the male would pull out himself and often times his penis still descended.

Everything I read said the estrus stage can take place from as little as 6-14 days after bleeding. From what I understand just like humans , no dog is the same. So the best signs I went off were , bleeding haulted , she was receptive to male , tail flagging ,raising vulva. I believe if she was fertile it was then. Also like I said she started to bleed again a day or two later which I believe was the sign marking toward the end of her heat. So I'm just holding on to the idea that the male got enough in even though they didn't tie.

Also the male was introduced to female on numerous occasions on two separate days, with 15+ penetrations seen and descended penis.
