Thats great man. If you want to climb the ladder you know gotta go to the grading put the time and all the other stuff. I had a young family and a job that left me completely drained. I still dream about it and its been 3 years gone. Thats okay i got all the Bruce Lee movies Ha.

You know that Renato is a gimmick, right? In another video he was chocked out by Bravo, both fake though...
Nate Diaz bullied him once though!
On topic now, train some Judo, take some take down techniques, train some wrestling too and then go back to bjj.
Bjj is the king of grappling. Also is the only technique that evolves and new moves come in.
I prefer no gi and I like the new battle jiu jitsu, more realistic.
If you afraid of KO in mma, you can do battle jiu jitsu.

You could always come back. Or do it once a month even just recreation. Mate.. Blue belt is more then enough for street defence. Or just go to say hi to the folks and just hang out and watch every now and then. White to blue is for self defence after that is just business.. More money for gym lol

I'm sure he knows.. He's playing around.

That's good advice but wrestling especially freestyle is hard on the back.. Always bending and I'm tall

No way poison its not about the belt for me its a lifestyle. Like surfing if you get a taste for waves you get hooked its all you think about and too many other obligations you start to do it half hearted and then stop

No but honestly speaking being the best you can be at something requires your full attention. I gues i will will have to get rid of the wife and kids thats all.

I'm 6'2,5". I had some problems 4-5 years ago, but after I began training (including wrestling), those problems are gone. You just have to be careful. You know your body, not your trainer. Step by step you will see improvement on your waste tolerance.
If you are afraid for your back, do some specific exercises that focus on abs and back. Take it easy at first and you will see great results after. Listen to your body!
If you do wrestling and judo, you will be better on td and td defence from the rest bjj guys on your level for sure!

My son did it with a scrub for a six or seven months. He did two seminars with Gustovo Muchado and the shortcomings of the class we were paying for were more than exposed.

I tried it for awhile. It was fun. I enjoyed myself tremendously. I have a crushed portion of my ankle from the service. Perfectly fine one minute and if it moves in a certain position I'm limping or even not walking for a day or so. If it were not for that I'd be one of those life long practitioners, not so much for the next belt but the learning and competing.

If there is a good school close I think every young kid should give it a whirl.
