Believe what you want I reckon, historic truth or political truth....... Get down to the nut cuttin, there is documentation and such that shows that King George II and III actually had bulldogs also had a pug which at that time was still a fighting dog in china.. and shortly there after all of a sudden bulldogs were pudgy. If you look at the earliest depictions of bulldogs we who are good with strains and bloodlines and have a keen eye for detail know that the dog we call APBT is the dog that was the bulldog. "The Bulldog went into the fighting pit, for ever dubbed "pit bull" Now there is also documentation that shows right about that time bullbaiting first and years later dogfighting became illegal. Almost overnight the people who wanted to preserve the traditional dog stayed under ground with their pit bulldog or bull N terrier the two names sprung up Staffordshire and Manchester both named for the area they were in rather than the fighting sport or working dogs they began the show and pet quality. Its all there when you put all the sources together like a puzzle. The extinct white fighting terrier is in the APBT its not extinct we seen em in the early colby dogs and that one tool made a propaganda breed off of bull terrier and you can follow that too! Game Bull Terrier is the APBT and the political Bull Terrier is a kickdown, once again when you put all the sources together you see this clearly. The first terriers ever registered were in England, and they were all red with red noses and were a direct result of inbreeding Pit Bulldogs also available in those out of print sources that cost us 80 to 500 dollars to obtain. HISTORIC TRUTH is expensive these days while political truth aka BS is just like wild fire...

So in short the SBT was a paper name for a paper champ trying to seperate from the true Bulldog of England which was long ago dubbed Pit Bulldog or bulldog the English Bulldog is a paper name that sprung up in similar time. All political propaganda they both claim history to the [] overnight while those REAL bulldogs stayed underground and came over here to people like Colby, Feeley, Corcoron, Lightner.. J.P Colby grew up in a ship yard and collected all the best dogs off the boat and there were all types who were there to do so also. There were old John Bull WWII propaganda with a Pit Bulldog like USA's but England done a better job of getting rid of it all. Depending on location, culture, slang language and function depended on what the dog was called. WHY oh WHY hide the Pit bulldog history and ancestry or deny the source or confuse the truth? Whats the point? They were once the same and off the same boats; the difference is the four corners ;) A picture is worth a thousand words and we've all seen the pictures of bulldogs, pit bulldogs, pit bull terriers, game bull terriers of that time and wtf are they?? thats right the APB mtha fkn T !!! SORRY I don't like to cuss but it seemed appropriate for the laughter effect :D

in response to your first sentence sunbeam, as you said it goes both ways, i cant fancy and think a 25-35 lb compete with a 48-52 lb apbt, but pound per pound there are pure staffords that could compete no problem, few yes, and guess what they arent from psycho blood. these staffords become legends because people like to take short cuts and go for a finish product as the apbt is, a product that had been refined with a lot of sweat and breeding selection. stafford people dont want to put the effort for some reason, very few do. slowly but surely i dare to say there will be some well known and #s will increase before and after my time.

in response to your 2nd sentence, i dont claim pilot was a stafford but he was certainly not an "american" pit bull terrier. german shepards have been in america for a long long time and they are categorized as a german breed still. pilot came from a a town where staffords prevailed not apbts, therefore the correlation, like you said they are very closed related. agreed.

Wow another topic where somebody want's to see pics of conditioned staff's turned in to a pissing contest about the SBT vs APBT.

Somehow it seems that those who are dedicated to the SBT are loyal to the death but also have to most kennel blindness towards their own dogs.

From history untill present day you have to look at things in a logical way.

This is not about names or what the origin of both breeds actualy is.
It's just simply about directions, 1 breed went on to beeing a show dog while the other went on and stayed a pure fighting dog. breed those for 50 years in each it's own direction and see the outcome.
The SBT may started 110 years ago from fighting dogs but that's it, the APBT stayed the fighting dog.
yes yes yes some SBT had succes i know, i'm not knocking them down, you just can not put them up their with the APBT.
Some can go the distance against APBT and even win but it's just a small %

Its important to remember the dates in the english references, as all books are opinion or have an agenda even if truth is the agenda, its important to compare truths.. So remember Armitage book, Colby books, and Deiter Fleig along with others so you can track the "bull terrier" from the "pit bulldog"

Game Bull Terriers Pit Bull Terriers Pit Bulldogs Bull Terriers all one name for a pit dog in different geographic areas under different demographics and slang.

paper and politics they take "a truth" and run with it..

Still haven't found the depictions but Im getting close found some cool stuff still yet I had't looked at in a while.. Dont forget to compare our bulldog history too! Remember the white bull terriers all registered around the same time as Paddy and in APBT cornerstones. Not to be confused with the show muck.. hell its all muck.. the pictures and the function worth all the words in the world. I'll keep digging.

Im still interested in just seeing some ripped SBTs...

did the first bulldogs had it made? i give you my answer: no, selection and hard working is what made the breed what it was and it is today in smaller numbers compared to 3-4 decades ago. hard work many arent man enough to put in and go the easy route. kennel blindness? well to a point if you dont select and just reproduce whats worth reproducing. that smalll % is what we the stafford enthusiast gotta hold on to. you like apbt's over staffords? that's fine, just dont generalize a breed based on certain blood or dogs you've seen cause there are others many dont know and havent seen.

12 you are a staff man , i have owned both a bitch out of big redxredrose and dogs out of neilson, patrick, and, mayfield my brother on the other hand only had kc staffs well bred and he still agrees that they were a country mile apart in looks shape and attitude, his dogs was agressive even to a pup and would screem at a dog across the road, were as my dog out of neilson would sleep with my mums lab but would not suffer any of his staffs so my point is i have seen both sides of the coin as for others many dont know and havent seen leave them there as i have grown up with both and seen all i kneed to see.
