    Hello nasher,
I owned stockades stuff in the 80s - early 90s , but stopped owning / breeding them mid 90s , i too am looking for a pup bred close from that line , I have looked at the Peds from Barnstorm dogs and hes done a great job in keeping them tight , great looking dogs , i wonder if you could put me in touch with him , or anyone still breeding along those lines.

    Many Thanks

    Mallon

Any breed of dog that is bred/reproduced and not worked, then reproduced because of their phenotype will have health issues.

    This is a great conversation/topic.

I was into the Fila Brasileiros for a number of years.

    Two breeding patterns emerged.

Breed the best looking/show winning dog in the hopes of getting more best looking/show winning dogs.

When the hip and elbow dysplasia become prominent find the dog with the best OFA/PennHip results and breed to him to fix the health issue with the best looking/show winning dogs.

    Then repeat.

I had a female Fila once that looked like a male dog. Everything about her was masculine. I took her to a show in Georgia and was pretty much told she was a piece of shit and don't embarrass myself by driving six hours with such crap (in so many words).

Their females stood picture perfect and were all exceptionally good looking dogs.

My bitch had marks/scars on her face because she showed an interest in doing shit so I put her in a hog pen in SC just to see. She caught like she was born to for the job. He toe nails were worn down to the numbs because in the winter time I had just about had her trained to track shot deer. I could not let her off lead because she had issues with people (shitty breeding practices that tried to create something that was not in order to link the dogs of today to yesteryear). Until you have had a 125lb horse of a dog drag you thru the woods in the dark you will never have any respect for face high limbs and ear level briars. Just saying. I let her off once and we never decided whether she found the deer and tree=ed the guy that killed the deer.

Sort of off topic and not insinuating any of the dogs in this thread are 'not working'.

It is Sunday morning and I am winding down before I go to bed. Babbling.

The dogs Ive heard of, are so called "working dogs", as many in these days in Staffords, when they actually is more show/sporting dogs..

Imo, when breeding for sport and pet-homes, health should be in the atleast top3 when choosing dogs to bred.

The dogs of today are mostly bred due to hype online and, to some, "fancy/cool" names a few generations back in the pedigree.. Perfect ingredients for a shitshow, which seems to be the situation in the Scandinavia.
