The shit I typed was to reference the prejudice against our breed, or have you not noticed this??? I get what you are saying, however, you seem to not get it through to your thick skull that the general public doesn't consider our dogs to be dogs, but instead considers them to be dangerous animals. Why do you think so many pitbull and pitbull mixes that bites an intruder gets put down etc.!?!?!?! Don't believe me, just check the newspapers and all the reports of dogs being taken away that are pit mixes. Also you do realize that dogs being used as catchdogs are more true to type than the conformation dogs right? Just a heads up but our breed of choice was not meant to be a showdog.

Again you don't seem to realize that this shit doesn't apply to us. You realize that the general public considers the apbt to not be a dog. The pitbull is considered a dangerous animal, not a freakin dog in the eyes of the public. Get that through your thick head and realize that BSL in itself is illegal and unconstitutional. However, shit is still here and growing. You also realize that in most states, dogs are considered property and by outlawing dog matching, it is actually unconstitutional. However, that is just the way it is.

sure they do.its all on attitude.gotta learn to relax and handle some issues as say small potatos,i get mad about stuff like that for about a min and thats all the time stupid people get from me.and dont forget when you have dogs they do escape.we having apbt's have to work hard on keeping them contained at a higher level, but that was our choice with our breed.when someone has loose dogs all the time let them know the danger there dogs can face.dont always work but its the good neibor thing.keep peace till its war.

Holy crap this really turned into a friggin battle royal....

After reading everyone's comments, I want to clarify (since I'm new here) that although I respect and understand the history and the abilities of the dogs, I am NOT a fan of present day fighters. I have a very aggressive dog (DA) that I rescued from a kill shelter that I'm trying to keep from doing harm to other animals and from being destroyed as a result (she already had an incident in my neighborhood, luckily AC saw that I am responsible with her and I paid the other dog's vet bill out of pocket to set things right). Does she want to throw down with other dogs? Hell yes. I have never seen a dog try to get at other dogs like she does. Will I let that happen? No friggin way. I will never take a chance of getting this dog injured or taken away and destroyed. Sorry if that rubs anyone the wrong way, but I value the dog too much to take a chance like that and I don't want to see other innocent dogs hurt (when their owners deserve a beatdown for not leashing them, not having a fence, etc.)....

Some dogs with drive can be laid back reserved save all there energy for the moment.
I had a dog that was quite but would do full 3 to 4 foot leaps with body at same angle as walking that used to get me very puzzled looks from people , Had one barking and pulling . one sounded like otottooahah over and over . Regardless of the sound you have a dog that if you drop that leash your dog is going to get on with it ! & then you will have to put down your dog, pay the vet bill , be in the news paper . I would never take that dog around other dogs or out unless you have a muzzle. Your dogs wrestling ability might be so strong that alone could cause harm.

PS that fence from your other post , she can get over that fence EASY not even a hint of effort!!

i have a female that SCREAMS at rabbits, squirrels, the neighbors cat that lurks around our yard, anything on four legs EXCEPT another dog. then she goes quiet, and all you hear is her chain throwing sand and dirt all over the place. it's been well over a year since i walked her out in public (since she started acting a fool).....i take her out at night if i have the time, but only out across the road towards the corn, never back into town where we'd risk seeing another dog. she'll throw shit with her paws and bite at the ground, hard.....it wasn't pretty and fairly embarrassing when we passed a woman walking her dog last summer and she started doing that, after that we stopped going out in day light.

be responsible, take you and your dog out of the situation where you are endangering someone else's pet.

OK dont be ashamed of your dog...
Dont be embarassed love them and they will calm down. They feel your tenseness. Keep them out of harm's way, but being able to walk with them, without a dog off leash coming at u isnt too much to ask. You guys need to know what it's like to cradle your bulldog in and out of the weight pull shoot. You don't just walk her up there. NO, you pick her up like a 5 month old baby and lay her in there.
She'll pull a million pounds for you. When you have a DA dog they go crazy when they think your not happy with them, their trying to impress you and protect you. Show them love and they will calm down and eventually walk right past other dogs unless their being challenged. It's in their genetics to keep trying with no abandon. They need human approval.

NJpit And lastly if your dog was on leash and the other one wasn't and you were trying to control your dog. You were wrong for paying the vet bills; if that's not the case whatever dude u did what u felt u must.

That's a beautiful dog u got stick up for her protect her. Especially since you dont have her in the pit; she'll be healthy and happy and take care of you and your family with all she got for the next 15-20 yrs if your lucky.

    Good luck.

I agree ADM, I have seen other peoples dogs, and I am seeing it in mine.....the calmer you are in those situations the quicker they move on. They know when it is time once you set the limit. Just takes work, consistency, and confidence on your part. At first I lacked but the the more I work with her the more I see it.....you do the same NJpit and yours will be ok too.

are you f-in serious? i will never, and i encourage those with bulldogs to never discourage the drive in their dog. trust me, my gyp is not trying to impress or protect me, she wants to introduce her teeth to the dog she sees. nothing wrong with that, it's an american pit bull terrier's nature. i just now avoid those situations, and she gets more approval and love than some kids that live around here.

i know she's acting a fool and putting on a show when she screams at critters and cats; she sounds like a rabid chimpanzee trying to murder something. but when she sees another dog it's a different story, her frustration at not being able to get to them comes through when she's chomping chunks of dirt up and THROWING it with her mouth and carving ruts wherever she stands. that's generations of bulldogs coming through.

If your bulldog is true, no amount of love will take the desire to fight out of them. I fully agree with this. If anyone seriously believes that by discouraging and punishing dog aggression will get you somewhere, then you guys are asking to be bitten. Most people get bit by apbts when they try to breakup dog fights due to redirect aggression and trust me, redirect aggression does happen. The best thing to do with a dog this hot is just to make sure the dog's collar or harness is tight and doesn't slip, keep your dog on leash and preferably walk at night where chances of encountering dogs are rare, walk on roads and blocks where you know there are few dogs, and when your dog does begin to scratch and scream to try and get at the other dog, restrain her and then praise her once she calms down.

hell yea i agree.some seek to get love for it.my mut harly the gamest mix ive ever seen was a master at breaking out of the house from just opening the door to jumping threw windows he would wait till i got home the second he new id seen him he would bark and charge, this being from him knowing how proud i was with his hart at a young age, like when you walk to the yard then they all start hitting the chain at each other.
a dog will fire or not there is no controlling it in game breed dogs.
