It's just a pup u want to exercise it walk the dog on a harness don't need to worry about weighted collars plus u wanna wait till all the bones harden u can end up doing permanent damage

You can start anytime. It is the adjustment of load, and recognition of needing rest that is amplified in the heat.

Not knowing the dog or the dog's condition it is a stretch to offer good advice.

Start off with nothing but a 6 foot lead and a good pair of running shoes. Walk your dog. In time the walks will get easier and easier (for both you and the dog). Some add weight via the collar. Some use a harness and pull chains. In time, both.

I would only strength train if there were a specific goal in the end, such as weight pulling. Odds are the dog is naturally strong and only needs some refinement. A healthy bulldog is usually pound for pound strong in comparison to other breeds and there is no need to amp that up just for shits and giggles.

Hand walk the dog and if there is a way to get him to run, maybe fetching or running with a bike, all the more better. Odds are he is naturally strong but maybe short winded. The long walks and bike runs will add some wind, he will breathe better and the all of a sudden be 'strong' but better yet, 'stronger longer'.

    Good luck. S

By the time your dog is ready to go out on walks,You just need to get a leash and a collar and head out the door with him in tow.Not so fast.As early as a few weeks old, you can introduce your pup to collar and leash.

I'd wait about another year. He's just a pup, give him time to mature.

At 1 year old, a working line dog is certainly mature enough for a variety of exercises and vigorous play, especially if you are not lazy to join in.

Good for bonding and learning your dog's capabilities is to run, swim, play ball/frisbee and tug with him/her.

Grass/dirt surface is easier on joints than asphalt.

I was referring to weight pull training. Exercise is a great idea, putting a weighted collar on a 1 year old pup is an awful idea.

They recommend training with weighted collars or harnesses from 18 months, starting slow with light weights and build that up with care.

    Maybe this link is something:

Also I think it's better to use a weighted harness than a collar, it's distribute the weight better over the shoulders, neck, and chest, and more "comfort"

    Here a pic of a weighted vest,(This is just a example )

And this is one made from leather, more expensive, link

Don't forget the rubdown, is also important..........good luck
