Are presa canarios good dogs

Im just interested to see what pitbull people think about these dogs?

 

The few I've come across were not ppl friendly at all. Couldnt be around ppl or anything living for that matter... I was looking into them about 5yrs ago, I settled for a corso. A huge problem here in the states is ppl want them over sized and hip problems are a big problem in the breed. This is the case for the ones I have delt with.

 

They are a re-created breed. Different dogs for a different purpose.

 

if u want a dog thats gonna kill someone one day they are fantastic dogs!

 

a pal of mine has a 4 year old cane corso male.handsome big thing,great with people,not so much with other dogs.quite like him as an example of the breed.big healthy lump for sure.

 

My Uncle had one when i was younger, drove him nuts it was well trained but had a big desire to be free :rolleyes: i remember i went to their croft for a week in the school holidays i had been there before when the dog was a pup, but arriving there this time the place looked like a f**king jail. I said "what`s the big mad fence for Davy" "oh that dog !!! i walk it for hours each day, play with it for hours too, your aunt janet takes it for walk`s inbetween, but if there is any chance of that thing getting free it would be off". I remember him telling me he was so sick of fixing up patches in the wood fence that the dog had chewed and ripped apart he got a local engineering firm to fabricate a steel wire mesh fence he had now. The dog was ok with myself (i had played with it as a pup maybe it remembered) but it was not a human friendly dog and it absolutely hated other dogs.
imo There is no doubt they are inpressive Molosser-type dog but very strong headed and very dominant if not in the right hands. They take a lot of working with and a hell of a lot of excercise.

 

Read about the trial in San Francisco a few years ago. The two mauled someone to death. The owner of the dogs was sued and I believe may still be in jail.

Love it when they post someone getting mauled and don't post a picture or a breed of dog. What do you think the first thing that hops into the public's mind is?

No the case I was talking about was about 2 presa canarios. It was a young woman who was mauled to death. The woman who owned the two Presa's was sued and I believe a precedent was set that she was criminally liable in the case. It may have been a few more years back then I first stated. It was without a doubt. not 2 pitbulls.

 

think i remember that.in an apartment block or similar.cant remember what breed. i think there had been complaints about the dogs before the attack.

 

Yes. It was an apartment complex in San Fran.

 

They were diff Presa's, I remember it well, people I know got rid of theres right after..............

Owners (husband wife) and yes I think it was for murder then over turned to something else.........

i think that those dogs have the same rap as our dogs. the owner deserved to get what the law gave him. i dont remember the whole case and im too lazy to read that whole thing, but the owner should not of had 2 big ass Presas in a 6floor apartment building and they were on the 6th floor. Im sure these are really good dogs to own in the right hands just like ours. anyone that is going to get one i would hope knows all they can on the breed with proper living confinement and exercise of the Presas or any other large breed like that. it should of been obvious not to own one in a apartment building. besides that when was the last time we heard of another attack killing from these dogs. Not since that last attack killing. Same rap as ours, irresponsible people always screw everything up for us good dog owners. the media always blows that type of shit up. i think the owner got life let it have been a Labrador that killed they would of had 20 years lol..... thank the media for that sentence.

 

I tried to adopt one a couple of years ago and the shelter told me. no way! I told them how I owned 3 rottweillers in my life, Im sure I could handle another type of big dom dog. And they said, they arent even close to rotts. They said presas can get attached to one person and wont let anyone else near them. They would only give her to a presa experianced owner who could prove it. I figured they were being over cautious, but maybe not after reading some of these posts
