Can't be much of a dogfighter with 2 pet dogs. If there is a way for his family to file suit against the HSUS up there, I hope they find it.

  3. Again RIP. The way I see it, you do not push the envelope in dealing with things that are illegal. Constant vigilence is required at all times.

The guy is a noted dogman. Law enforcement has you branded as a scumbag and have you on the watch list. The last thing I would do is have any weed and an arsenal of firearms laying around. Why take the chance?

I understand that he got rid of the dogs. I also understand that we have a right to bear registered arms. When you deal in drugs, you have no rights. Sorry but it is true..

High Coast Hiker: I wouldn't consider myself a "scavenger." I simply told the truth as I saw it, which I now have found is a bad thing. As it is said, a lot of people cannot handle the truth.

Dream Pits: Not to bring the "forbidden subject" back up, but we are actually indeed called on to judge. Heck, in one place we are called upon to not even eat at the same table with someone who is doing wrong. I won't post the text so I may abide by forum rules, but one can look it up on their own if they wish.

As for him being a vet (I assume you mean veteran) what does that have to do with guns? Both my husband & I are combat veterans & for a long time I never owned a single gun. Currently between the both of us we now own 7 guns (he owns 2 handguns & 2 hunting guns, I own 1 hand gun & 2 hunting guns), but we don't have 40 of them & they aren't placed in strategic locations throughout my home near holes in the blinds! Mercy! I hate to think that is the stereotype of America's veteran is that we're paranoid whacked out gun freaks waiting for a shoot-out with "the man"! :(

cutt: Thank you for the kind words. I too think they're pretty! lol. But if you will check out my site as well as read posts on my MBs I often refer to them as Lonzo & Lonzo crosses & if I refer to them as Zebo dogs I explain why. I will assume you have missed that.

As for what is said about me after I pass, as I said once before I doubt that will matter. If conscious I'm sure I will be much more concerned with other things than the matter of the living. If not I will be in oblivion & wouldn't know what is being said anyway. Either way, the living's opinion of me will be a non-issue.

RedGoodbye: He was mean to TNT b/c he was being a wanker. It's not like HE did not sell dogs. Did she sell dogs? Sure. Most certainly. But so did he. And he sure took her $$$ to advertise the dogs she was selling in PBR. He just did not like blue dogs & did not think blue dogs could do anything, which is what got the whole thing started. When ST stepped up to defend her dogs is when he started to use his public forum to belittle a fancier who was doing nothing no worse than he was. :(

And yes, his involvement in drugs did shock me. I expected more from a dog man of old. :(

As for the comment about my merles, would you care to see the UC Davis Vet Lab DNA documents verifying parentage as APBT? Yokels like you are why I have that stuff on file. :p

magnoilaotis: Someone who takes a drunk like the one he recorded is not a person who does that only one time. I am willing to bet that he's been drunk like that more than once. I've been out in the real world, I've seen plenty of drunkards. Being a drunkard doesn't mean you show up to work drunk, don't have your life together, etc. I have seen drunkards who were "functioning drunks" who only got sauced on weekends. But the fact was they were still abusing alcohol.

As for ST peddling pups, sure she was. I never said she didn't. But so did he. It was shallow of him to judge her dogs by their color & pedigree & it was cruel & rude of him to use his public forum to berate her for something he himself did (peddled).

As for people living on the edge of the law making these dogs, that is a joke. There are plenty of old timers who had a major hand in the creation of these dogs who weren't dope slingers or the like. Do I honor & admire the history of these dogs? Yes, I do. Do I honor some of the people of lesser morals who were involved? No, I don't.

Dogmanup: He likely placed the dogs elsewhere for safety due to the brush fire. Smoke is not good for their lungs & heaven forbid he have to evacuate on short notice & have to abandon the dogs. I would think if he knew LE was coming for him he would have put away his guns & moved the week out off his property or at least hidden it.

As for why they had the warrant, maybe they saw the dog pit? Or the multiple chain set ups. Who knows?

Oh well. in closing, I have done a lot of reflection on the subject since I got off the PC yesterday morning (family time you know) & really I think all this squabbling boils down to me, not him. I look up to all the dog men of old & I put him up on a pedestal that was far too high for him. I expected him to be moral & found he was not, I expected him to be courageous & found he was not. While I do not condone drug dealing or suicide in any way, shape or form, my stinging disappointment were the source for my harsh words concerning him. I expected too much from him. He was weak when I thought he would be strong. He was a scoundrel when I thought he was a role model. And those are my mistakes. That is my fault, not his. :(

    Blessings to all.

I don't know the guy personally (which would have been difficould, considering where I live lol) but I do know how to show respect to someone that just passed

but clearly, some people don't know when the time is right to start bashing. I think that's very sad...

RIP RB and my condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

  11. I am staying out of this whole thread, but I do have to say that I do think the guns had a lot to do with being a Vietnam Veteran. You know as well as I do that the Vietnam War broke men and sent them home shells of themselves with horrid experiences weighing down on their backs. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these mentally scarred veterans were just left to their own devices by the same country they so selflessly put their life on the line for.

Whatever you may think of Bill, you know as well as I do that the United States Govt. dropped the ball on the care and rehabilitation of thousands of veterans and left them to live within their own tortured minds after Vietnam. That much is an undeniable fact. So, yes, I find it plausible that the guns and "peep holes" were a post traumatic war by product - and I'm surpised as someone who served yourself that you don't recognize the need for improvement in helping soldiers cope when they come home.

A house full of loaded guns with watch holes is generally a sign of a severely traumatized soldier - not something to do with dog fighting.

    Great Post Adivina!

ABK: The media claims that they were peepholes. As far as we know, they could have been a break in the blinds or broken blinds!

Nothing wrong with owning 40 guns as long as they were all registered. He could have stocked up before some of them were banned, because they are rare or simply just like collecting them.

As a combat veteran ABK you know damn well that it affects us all differently. As combat veterans we should limit ourselves to the amount of guns we own in fear of being stereotyped by America?

I can assure you that America isn't going to stereotype their veterans as paranoid whacked out gun freaks from this incident. America is more sensitive to their veterans nowadays than they were 40 years ago.

ABK: I am convinced you are one these people that likes to hear himself talk, and what makes you even harder to tolerate is your self professed Christian morals that spews self righteousness!

The truth is you didn't know Bill, you knew of him, but you didn't know the man, and it is really disturbing to me, and I am sure alot of folks on this board to hear you disrespect the man I considered a friend!

Adivina & Searcy Jeff: Good posts. You make some very valid points.

Outsider: I don't know if I necessarily like to hear myself talk. Trust me, sometimes I don't even look forward to logging on & if it's real bad I have to take a vacay from these boards for a few days b/c at times they give me a flipping headache. But I will speak up if I can help someone or if I see some bull jive going on.

Did I know Bill? No, not personally. But I did know some of the things he has done, the majority of which I knew about weren't stellar. Bottom line is he was like everyone else - he had some good in him & he had some bad in him.

As for Christian morals, yes I have them. Forgive me for doing so & forgive my mother for raising me right. Is that a bad thing? I think if more people had a stiffer moral code about them, this world would be a better place. But that is JMHO.

    Blessings to all.

I knew Bill for 10+ years now and was a friend. I'm really going to miss him, his conversations and his emails. He was not weak and was not a scoundral. ABK you don't know him so don't talk about someone like that you don't know. I had and aunt commit suicide, so was she weak, i think not. If you don't know entire stories don't assume things.
    R.I.P. my friend BILL.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone here. But I was raised that suicide is for the weak & it is a coward's way out. Again, I apologize if you don't like it, but those were just the morals under which I was raised. Unless one is mentally ill or under the influence of drugs to me suicide = weak. Others may have been raised to think otherwise.

As I mentioned earlier, I myself have suicidal thoughts & impulses due to my PTSD, depression & the seizure meds I am on. Heck, I thought of going home & taking my own life just this very afternoon. But do I go run for a gun (or any other method) to end my life? No. I sought help & tough out those thoughts when they come upon me.

Do I know RB? No, not personally. But I do know some of the things he did, which to me were not honorable, the climax being his suicide. It was said earlier on this thread that RB had told them he knew LE was coming & "wouldn't work on a road crew like Tant." So basically he said himself he was willing to play the game, but not pay the dealer.

Either way, it doesn't matter. The man is dead & gone & all this discussion is for naught. Like all of us (including me), RB had good & bad inside of him. Those who knew the good will remember the good & those who knew the bad will remember the bad.

    Such is life.

    Blessings to all.

A couple of days ago I decided no to answer any more of your posts because I did not want to add fuel to your idiot fire. You've been trying your very hardest to disrespect the man's memory and make this thread about you and your closed-minded, quasi-christian moral code. I'd give twenty to one odds that you are one of those holier-than-thous who has never read the bible the whole way through and the only thing you know about christianity or anything else is what your momma and some equally uninformed preachers, who heard from their mommas, told you.

It is getting a bit sickening watching you try to have the last words on subjects you know precious little about. That kind of behavior tends to make people look like nothing more than big-mouthed bullshit-artists. In this case, it is also making you look like an angry, bitter harpie.

You want the last word? Have it. You've already admitted that you know nothing of the man, yet you're doing your damndest to drown out the voices of all those who knew him, met him, spoke with him, dealt with him, agreed or disagreed with him on a personal level. So, what is your point and your purpose? Does the fact that he chose his own time to go instead of "paying the dealer," somehow feed your over-inflated sense of moral superiority? My dear, real christians know that in the end the only dealer one has to pay is the almighty herself.

Don't forget Matther 6:1 while dishing your self-righteous sermons ABK. Remember
Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

It's been over 3 years since I've posted on here but will chime in on this one as Bill was a friend and mentor to me. I visited him twice in the late 90's and still have a 13.5 yr old 1/2 bro to Gr Ch Mongoose.
This is terrible news and even tho I haven't spoke to Bill in a couple of years I will miss his friendship, advice, intelligence and contributions to the breed.
I'd like to ask Dmason, Smeb or anyone that knew Bill if he and Rose had split up or what?? I tried contacing her but the emails bounce back and no one is answering the phone.
    Great posts HighCoastHiker.
As for people slagging others that they don't know (ABK), they should keep their opinions to themselves. You say that the only acceptable reason for a suicide is a mental disorder. Doesn't having holes poked in one's blinds and guns laid out all over the place suggest that MAYBE someone is suffering from paranoia, PTSD, or some kind of conspiracy theory phobia??
Even you have had thoughts of suicide so I guess time will tell if you punch your own ticket or not. Until then you should save your holier than thou judgements of others, because others don't want to hear you blathering on about things and people you know nothing about.
