i posted one of these last week - but they just keep coming.
i'm seeing about one of these a day now on craigslist jacksonville, FL

Titled: Pit pups- please help me!

I have 3, 10 week old pittbull puppies. We weren't expecting puppies but that what happens when you let a female out fresh. Anywho there are 3 puppies, too much for me to handle. Two boys and one girl. Only asking a $100 rehoming fee each. Mother also up for adoption. She will be a year in December. I would like to keep her, but I can no longer afford to. Pictures upon request. Please let me know.

Didn't take long did it? Say the dog was 8 weeks when they got it...this owner created a freakin mess in 8 months...

 

That is really sad. This person does not deserve to own dogs. Period.

 

That is the norm not the exception. In this case it could have been much worse with 13 puppies. That is why I get so mad when someone has a litter. All it takes is just 1 pup to land in the wrong hands and you have 10 or more pups in a year needing homes. Just read my signature.

i dont buy the litter of three crap...more like i sold all but three and now asking 100 each..i wonder how old the male is...nuts havent dropped maybe that explains only three pups..

 

You obviously never been to a shelter have you ? There are 5 APBT's( was 6 , one got homed today in foster ) right now sitting down at my towns local pound and the shelter can only house 10 dogs...do the math that is 50% of the dogs are APBT's. That is just this week alone , we see lots of them all year long so I believe in Phobes numbers.

Seeing how your all up to date on numbers and call it BS why dont you tell us how many responsible owners there are to the iresponsible ones there are ? Not everyone should own this breed but too many people do and nothing is detering people from backing 2 dogs up to one another for a quick buck and that there is the problem. Are you one of those people and thats why you do not like hearing it ? Truth hit too close to home maybe ? Or maybe you just cannot do math properly, multiplication is not that difficult if one has passed the 3rd grade.

That is wrong, not everyone who owns this breed should be breeding, again with your practicing what your preaching just proves Phoebes number therory true. And enough with the whole AR crap, just because someone is pointing out that over breeding is a problem doesn't make one a AR nut that just proves to me that someone is paying attention rather than sticking thier head in the sand while denying that there is a huge problem going on around us.

That to me shows that you advocate breeding, am i wrong ? Who is US ? By sending a message like that it is saying that it is ok for anyone reading this to breed when clearly not everyone should be breeding and you agreed with that.

As far as the AR comments, just because people do not agree with over population does not mean that all oppsed are AR nuts. I support some breeders just not all the breeders. Also if one does work with shelter dogs doesn't automatically make them an AR nut just shows that a person has compassion for animals. In all seriousness have you been to a shelter Frenchie ? It can be very disheartning to see all the abandoned dogs that end up there. Some one bred those dogs and someone before them bred the parents of those dogs etc etc etc.....

I cannot speak for Phebe but im sure she is tired of seeing all the no longer wanted dogs show up at her shelter. After you walk a mile in her shoes maybe you too would see a problem with unwanted breedings. I know I hate seeing the APBT adds in the paper...selling APBT's pups $100 , there are tons of those adds even more so of those than any good breeder. Hell in fact, how many good breeders need to place an add in the paper to beging with ? NONE. Anyone who is running a respectable yard doesn't need to adertise , those people have a laundry list of homes to send pups to.

no, the part where i called you presumptuous had to do with your remark that i have "obviously" never been to a shelter. i used to work with the pitbull rescue in San Diego, so don't come at me with that sh*t. i fostered enough dogs that i lost count. and every last one ended up in a very loving and RESPONSIBLE home. so don't talk to me like you are some holier than thou expert on overpopulation and who should and who shouldn't breed. and, btw, i haven't done a breeding in over a year, so piss off.

So just to be straight here, you helped out in a shelter, fostered dogs and you have been known to breed ? Working in a shelter didn't point out to you that this breed is in a downward spiral due to poorly overbred dogs ? I am not holier than thou either, after seeing all that I have seen i have no desire to breed nor do i feel the need to advocate breeding.

What this breed needs is more respectable breeders with high standards nothing less IMHO. Instead what we all see all to often is those adds in the paper for APBT pups for sale , do you agree that that is a problem that we as APBT owners do not need ? There are only so many responsible owners to go around so where are the rest of those pups going ? And once they end up in the wrong home where do they end up after there ? And with your way of thinking I guess its ok for all those people to breed too huh ? See how those numbers now add up on Phebes sig ? We end up with too many dogs for such few good homes and that is how these dogs end up in the wrong peoples hands and that is where the problems come from when you hear the news on another pit bull attacking fueling the BSL machine.

 

Its a 2 way street. The survival of the REAL APBT does depend on SOMEONE breeding them. Thats obvious. Not everyone that breeds these dogs is a BYB. Not everyone is a dogman either. Overpopulation is a huge issue and thats obvious too. Dont get mad at someone for breeding good dogs for a good reason. Get mad at that dumbass out in the walmart parking lot or the guy breeding dogs from game stock just to make a pretty penny. I defended someone in here the other day who had some pups off a good breeding just to look at the ped for his pups and see at the top "Now taking deposits" Its going to happen. People are going to do whatever the hell they want with their dogs and theres not shit we can do about it without being some kind of f***ing vigilanty. I dont breed dogs. My mentor does, but we sell NONE. We use what we breed. Some are given away to friends and family but they use em too. Whos side are you on frenchie? Done a breeding? Over a year? Jeez. Its not that hard to tell who should breed dogs and who shouldnt. Its simple really. JQP shouldnt. A man with good stock that he's trying to better should. Its not breeding the dogs thats the issue. Its what they do with them afterwards.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I see nothing wrong with responsible people breeding responsibly but that is not what is happening in this country at the present time. It is absolutely heartbreaking to see such wonderful dogs be pts cause there just isn't enough homes for them. This is an epidemic with no end in site. I am not an AR activist and see nothing wrong with putting an animal to sleep but to just keep breeding litter after litter with no where for these pups to go when they start to grow is terrible.

 

now, in all seriousness, who the **ck said it was o.k. for byb to continue doing that sh*t? not me. i DO NOT advocate, in ANY way, irresponsible people owning or breeding any breed, but especially our breed. now another thing, i know what it's like to lose a dog because he had to be put to sleep. it's heartbreaking and enough to make me cry everytime i think about him. but, RESONSIBLE breeders are our breeds lifeline. does that clear it up for you all? and phebes, if you want any sh*t out of me, i have plenty, just open your AR lovin mouth. brown trout anyone?
