Depends on the dog, a good fit bulldog should make you tired before they are. Unless your extremely fit and you have a bully pit. Most dogs will let you know when theyve had too much and the more they work the more rest and good feed they need.

There is a world of difference between daily exercise and conditioning a dog in a serious manner "for a reason". Serious work should include gradual increases, starting slowly and gaining momentum in phases.

If you are merely exercising your dog on a rather daily basis, then you need not program it as such, yet keep it at some norm unless or until you are doing serious conditioning. Then, you can begin that gradual process of increased efforts.

In either case, the key to doing it in a proper manner is to let the rest be commensurate with the effort/stress/work or exercises. So, whatever levels it is that you're exercising him, you should match that with proper rest in order to rehab the wear and tear of the exercises. You will also keep his verve for exercising intact with this method.

From the "sound" of what you're doing, you're not overworking the dog, yet you may be under resting him. Give him the rehab time, rest time, and convalescence he needs to match his exercise efforts. I suggest, from what it appears you do, that 3 on and 1 off, then 4 on and 2 off would be somewhere near commensurate, and keep him happy and healthy, given you tend to all the other dog care requirements including proper diet.

  10. If u not focus on working your hound and he is just enjoy your quality. And you feeding him properly, more fat, you should have a great animal that well balance. If he not happy about leaving with you. He is overworked and leave him at home.

Before and after hard work outs it helps to hand walk them to stretch them and to cool them down or walk them down.Walk for ten minutes after his hardest work out ,take a pic and share with us, usually how quick thier panting
recovers to a normal breath determines if thier over worked or not. If your dog falls to is side panting you went tooo far and if it takes more than 20 mins to close thier mouth you should lighten up a bit.

Sounds like you are conditioning your dogs alttile heavy for non sport USE ,Be careful in the summer heat ..But if you are training them for a keep then 2+ hrs for long term game dogs + 2 times a week/ two short days 1/2 -3/4 hour 1 hr max and one day over three hours .. I like two full days off for muscle and tendon repairs and this helps the pads etc. But nothing wrong with a dog being about two maybe two a half three rib showing in shape.. I always look at the dog see what it looks like too lean too full use your eyes ,always take care of their feet

First off I would politely tell your postman to FUCK OFF and MIND HIS OWN GAWD DAMN BUSINESS.

As long as your dog is in good health thats all that matters. If he seems a little fatigued or tired give him a day or two of rest.

Problem with the world today is that a lot of people like to give and force there opinion on others instead of minding there own damn business.

I'm not as experienced as some of these people but when ever my dog has a pad injury I always wait for her to heal up 100% before I do anymore working. I know this is common sense to most but some people just don't know.

  18. OP, can I ask how old your dog is?

Really I will just be echoing what others have already said, But you will know if your over working your dog. Although pits can be somewhat tricky to read to the untrained eye because they have that all or nothing attitude...Believe me you will know when he's tired and over worked. General exercise daily won't hurt him just as it won't a person to get out and walk around or things of that nature. But any hard work they need a rest of at least a day.
