I was wondering if anyone ever trained a dog which had had a serious leg operation. Mine was operated twice: first for a broken bone, then the head of her thigh bone was removed. All those operation concern her left back leg. Now she has recovered, but the leg is thiner on this side and she sometimes runs on three legs. What do you guies think?

I think it may be unsafe to work her, especially in weightpull.

FHO, no I wouldnt work that dog. If it was mine and I thought enough of it....it would be my pet.

They do most of the work in weight pull from their back legs. If I had a dog with rear end problems, no way would I pull him/her. Maybe some light drag work, but nothing overly strenuous. Not competition.

Thank you, anyway I wasn't going to train her too hard. The only work she gets is hand walking, running after a ball, playing with other dogs and springpole. She has quite a lot of stamina, so I do spend around 2-3 hours each day with her. That's why I was thinking about dragging weights. But I suppose it's a bad idea.
