Siren took a 3rd place at the ADBA nationals in the 18-24 month female class. Siren also took 1st place in the ADBA invitational in her age class!:D I was really proud of my girl and had a great time meeting everyone and seeing all the great dogs that were there. The rest of my dogs came home with nothing but the experience was well worth it!

Ok so these were taken by Cheryl Caragan at the show. It was I really only got video and not pictures but I will post those up later. I also need to put her trophy pictures up but that will be done later.

ok..i am learning the ropes of the show ring in ADBA and looking at lots of old gazettes. feel free to correct me but it seems to me that dogs that are winning now do not appear nearly as conditioned of winning dogs from the past. I understand it is also pretty hard to tell from a pic but am I right? what is your opinion on it? is that something that has chnaged a little as the dogs have been taken out of the [] ?

I don't think so. I've seen PLENTY of ripped conditioned dogs at the ADBA shows.....

PK..I wasnt talking about your dogs. Just going off the pics of the winner from above that I asked about ( the 2nd placer is a member of another board I am on) for research..im learnin about what the judges seem to like so I am prepared for the upcoming show season.

well I was there at nationals with an ADBA judge and what I was told is it has to do more with the dogs overall structure then conditioning. So if Spike was a better dog structurally then his condition while good is not ripped or railed out, he still was the better dog. What they DO not want to see is ppl dehydrating their dogs to make them look more conditioned. There were a few dogs there that were too skinny and/or dehydrated and they did not get placed as winners. You can have the most conditioned dog there but if structurally he is a train wreak then you will not or should. Typhoon my dog above IMO is a little too skinny and needed more muscle tone, she does not live with me since I co-own her so I could not get more muscle before the show.

not place. At the invitational they looked at your dog for 10 min then told you what faults they see, my dog was over conditioned in the rear and it made her muscle appear to be overly large and bunchy. The judge told me (Ed Hinkle) that he knows that is due to her great conditioning but still it made the muscle appear to over power the others in the rear leg. I guess I would rather be over conditioned than under! lol Overall they gave me good compliments. Spike the dog who won his class could have been conditioned more but was truly the better dog out of the males they looked at.

So have your dog conditioned, no hip bones, a little top of the spine is ok, some ribs, and have great muscle tone.

Here is a winner from the male 5 and older class. This dog is 9 years old and just got his ADBA CH with this win. Orion is conditioned good for a 9 year old dog, he is a little heavy but considering his age you want a little fat on them encase they get sick.

He won over this dog Debo who also go his ADBA CH this weekend at 6 years old. Now this picture was taken at another show but the only one of this dog I have, this is siren's sire.

both dogs are not conditioned well but Orion was structurally better and he won the class and Debo got 2nd. There were only 2 dogs in that class.
    I hope this helps.
