I am in the process of preparing some type of compilation of information regarding APBTs. I'm doing this to try to help educate my grandmother who is dead set on believing that my dogs are going to kill me. Hey one more educated person is one less ignorant person right? I plan on including history, facts vs. fiction, the differences in APBTs and other dogs that are being classified as APBTs, photos, etc.

I would like to ask permission from you members to use a few photos of APBTs with children (as I do not have children of my own) and maybe a few photos of conformation winners and working dogs.

Also, there is a topic regarding how members fell in love with the breed. I would like to ask permission to include a few of those stories. I fell that sharing others' stories, along with mine, can shed some more light on the "pit bull bug" we've all been bitten by. :)

    Thanks!

Use what ever you'd like from my gallery. I'll PM my photobucket gallery to you too. Lots and lots of kid's pictures in there. You can follow my pitbull Petey and my youngest daughter from when she was in the womb until now when she is four years old.

I actually take my Black Pitbull Birdie to the nursing home to visit and everyone loves her.

Thanks man. There are some great photos there.

I figured it's worth a shot because these dogs will be in my life forever and she needs to understand that. If I can get her to come out of her house (instead of look through the window) and pet one someday, that'll mean I've accomplished a lot!! LoL

  8. In my never-ending struggle to educate the masses, I have learned that we must "sell" out point of view depending on the audience. For the elderly, I have found best to focus on "historical" truths rather than today's opinions by APBT owners.

I would suggest talking about the APBT as it was looked as before the media fever. Take her back to her childhood with:

    Petey (Little Rascals)
APBT as US symbol in WWI, etc.

Also, remind her that this sort of stereotype is not "new". In the 50's, the so-called "monster" was the GSD, after it became the Doberman, then the Rottweiler, and currently our breed. Point out that this sort of labeling is for the uneducated (lack of knowledge) and people that generalize.

I hope this gives you more ideas.

    Thank you Marty!

And Rocky, those are some great points. I definitely see what you mean about taking things back to "her days", and that's a great suggestion. Thank you.

  10. Hopefully you will get her to come around, it took a vacation up north with my 2 year old and her two 6 month old pups, for my grandma to like them, and now she only likes mine cause she can trust them now. She liked watching fauna, the two year old, carry out fallen trees with my hubby gary for fire wood. She thought that was the funniest thing, fauna would just pick up a fallen tree or a huge stump and carry or drag it out following gary with his trees :). she was doing what daddy was doing.
