A good one, I keep seeing this statement put in front of a fair amount of dogs. Being this a APBT oriented place seems like allot of folks like to say this when there talking of there bulldog. But seriously are there that many? Or do some of us just like to say this? Or is it said to feel good about one's dog?
Just wanted to see peoples opinion, I used to tell myself this same line then I stopped. I learned fast what a good one is and can do. I don't breed, nor will I ever so I don't care for the yard or breeding for that one true bulldog, but I will buy the occasional prospect to hopefully pull weight with. But a good one is a big title in my eyes. Maybe we all judge to different standards. Its hard to tell which dogs like to pull naturally for ADBA sanctioned events.

It is an opinion, which we all know are abundant and have different merit depending on who is stating it. Be wary of the folks who say they have good ones on every chain. If you feel like your on a used car lot then it is more than likely a sales pitch. Always take into account the source. My opinion on good ones has changed with time. What I once felt was an awesome dog wasn't such as I look back. Some folks are happy if it is just an honest dog, others may prize ability and the next may want some combination of traits. No answers here, just another useless opinion. And yes the phrase is used way too much.

Exactly, everyone has a different opinion of what a good dog is and opinions change with experience. So hearing he is a good ones coming from an honest successful dogmen means something different than hearing it from dave wilson wouldn't you think? Everyone thinks they have good dogs or they wouldn't keep them around.

I'm sure it's used in some cases by either liars or idiots where quite honestly the dog sucks and is a waste of feed. But "good" is just an opinion.Of course I think my dogs are good or I wouldn't be feeding them.I used to coonhunt alot and several people would tell you how great this new dog they got was,I've hunted with them and the dogs in some cases should've never made it home from the woods. But these people always, always had a "good one" to sell.lol.And they usually had a few followers that eat up every word of it.Bulldogs are the same thing, lots of sells pitches and lies but there is several good dogs out there. You just have to see who's saying how good it is and sort out the nonsense.

    Exactly right.

This is true. Hell my blue mutt is a good dog, to me, right now. He is everything I need and want so he fits my "good" right now, will he fit later on in life? Who knows but probably not, but he is a good dog for now and thats all he needs to be.

I think you need to look at who is saying its a good dog, and what they think good is. Might not be the same as what you think good is.
