    Looks like TN and Oh and now FL with raids this week. Government is out to smash the dog game. I strongly advise everyone to not be matching dogs

    69 dogs rescued, 2 arrested in alleged Polk dog-fighting probe - WFLA News Channel 8

    POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -Sixty-nine dogs were seized from two properties and two people arrested overnight during a dog fighting investigation in Polk County.

    Nickie Nicole Sanders, 44, and Hewitt Grant, 47, are charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty in connection with operating a dog fighting ring at two different locations.

    The dogs were confiscated by Polk County Sheriff's deputies who executed search warrants on October 22 at the two locations.

    Detectives say 20 dogs were found at a home at 122 Martin Luther King Jr. St. in Fort Meade.

    Seven of the dogs they found were wearing heavy logging chains that are used to strengthen the dogs for fighting.

    Deputies also say they found an area where a dog fighting ring had been set up and removed. Bloody pieces of carpet were also found at the location.

    41 dogs were removed from a home at 880 LB Brown Ave. in Bartow on October 22.

    Deputies say they found a portable dog fighting ring and carpet that was used at the first location. This dog fighting ring was found in the yard of the Bartow home. Deputies say they also found a second dog fighting ring. There was blood on nearby on carpet and blood on side walls.

    Four dogs were found in logging chains at this location. 37 other dogs were in kennels. A treadmill used to condition dogs for fighting and training was found at the location, according to a probable cause affidavit.

    Deputies say a yellow pit bull had severe wounds on its head and face from fighting. The dog had not received medical treatment.

    The dogs are in the custody of Polk County Animal Control, many at risk of being put down.

    They claim Grant and Sanders trained the dogs to fight and created very dangerous animals. Many of the animals are injured, showing signs of fighting.

    "We like to think we rescued these dogs but the reality of it is this guy created dogs that are really, that are dangerous," Chief W.J. Martin of the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

    According to the Polk Sheriff's office, Grant was convicted of dog fighting in 2006. 138 dogs were confiscated from Grant and a permanent injunction prohibited him from owning any dogs.

    "Clearly Judge Selph didn't get through to him, hopefully the next judge that deals with him will put him in a cage somewhere for a while," Martin said.

    According to Martin this investigation is just beginning.

    "Obviously when you've got this many dogs and you're fighting them it's not just you and your girlfriend sitting there fighting 69 dogs there's obviously other people involved other people that have dogs that are fighting these dogs so certainly our investigation will expand from here," he said.

    According to the sheriff's office, the dogs are being evaluated at Animal Control.

    Martin said he hates to put the dogs down, but grant and sanders created fighting machines that are animal aggressive.

    Nickie Nicole Sanders faces 48 charges related to animal cruelty or animal fighting one count of possession of cannabis and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Hewitt Grant faces 78 charges related to animal cruelty or animal fighting, one count of possession of cannabis and two counts of felon in possession of a firearm.

    Ya'll Americans have got to start placing your best dogs and blood lines in other countries away from the US where you don't have these problems and Pitbull rights violations like this that are in the process of transpiring.

    Those idiots that were arrested need to be electrocuted. If you want to race dogs , do your thing. But to keep them in a shit hole environment like that is inexcusable and puts US ALL under the radar with the man...... weather we are racing, hunting, or even just show confirmation. Until the people that own these dogs start having some pride for these animals and how they are kept between shows stupid shit like this will only continue to happen. I mean just look at the two dumb asses in the photo lol. Looks like they can hardly afford to feed themselves. Last thing they need is a bunch of dogs they cant afford. People like that , make the stand up dog men and dog women of today look bad.

    I agree with what your saying BT and Jefferson you are right also. I remember back in the 80's a big time dogman got busted for cocaine and he snitched out all the dogmen he knew,which was a lot. I'll tell u guys a story back in the day a friend calls up another friend that gave him a Bulldog to as a pet he was a cop. He was at a bust for drugs and there was a lot of magazines on Pitbulls there. He took a few of the mags after getting approval . Well when the friend was over the cop shows him a couple of the mags and he wasn't sure about them (SDJ). Well they knew each other since they where kids and he told him that wasn't something he really didn't want to get into. He said well they have bloodlines listed and everything and he knew what the mag was after he read it. Well he had a brother in law that was over that worked for the DEA and he used the bathroom and guess what he read while going to the bathroom? Well the DEA brother in law noticed something funny the kennel names and some phone numbers where names and numbers he knew as drug dealers. These fools was using their kennel names as their nickname in the drug business you can guess what happens from there.

    Thoughts on this and other recent raids, and after reading what others are saying here.

    1) Take good care of your dogs in terms of housing and feeding;

    2) Don't have a large number of dogs unless you are in a remote area, and can keep them healthy;

    3) Keep your yard in such a way that they can't be easily seen by the public;

    4) Don't show off or associate with people who are the kind to do so;

    5) Stay away from crimes that will bring you and your dogs into the attention of the law;

    6) Respect the breed and keep in mind that there are a lot of people who would eradicate it completely. You are a steward of the breed;

    7) A lot of what these people are getting in trouble for in circumstantial evidence. For example, a slat mill or a dog with scars are not evidence that you have done anything wrong. So don't let the cops bully you by telling you they have your ass because they found this on your property. Lots of people have slat mills and lots of dogs have scars for various reasons;

    8) Know your legal rights and don't incriminate yourself or others if you are interrogated - you have more power if you stay silent until you get council and have a chance to sort the situation out.
