a couple months ago i bought the supplies to make a homeade springpole which was a couple springs some d-rings 3 ropes and an i bolt to screw into a rafter... i put it all together and hung it up downstairs and my dog (kona) acts interested in it but just walks by it and wont play with it. i thought maybe if i gave it time she would figure out that its a toy... so far it hasnt worked so i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to persuade her to like playing with the spring pole. i go to school all day and work 2nd shift so i would really like for her to be able to be active while im not there... she has an insane prey drive and loves tearing shit up and playing with any toy you give her i even have a bowling ball i drilled through and put rope through it and taped it up with grip tape thick enough so that it has some cushion to it and she just carries it around like its her baby. so any suggestions to help will be greatly appreciated.

If you have another dog that likes the spring pole you can chain your dog up and let her watch the other dog having fun with it. It might make her amped up and understand what the spring pole is for.

My other dog is a Great Dane and he's got the typical goofy Great Dane personality so he doesn't have any interest in playing with it.. Any other suggestions?

You have to start off with it on the ground. By this I mean drag it along ground let her play with then gradually raise it up. But some dogs just are not interested in things of this nature just because she has a prey drive does not mean shell work a spring pole. Also wouldn't recommend leaving your dog alone with a spring pole this could cause un wanted damage to your animal such as broken teeth a dog on a spring pole should be supervised not left alone. I'm not trying be rude I'm just saying.

I guess i should clarify... I just want her to be able to play tug of war with her self i dont want her hanging off the ceiling or anything like that i would prefer it if she never completely left the ground so there is no possibility of injury i just want her to be able to burn off some steam while im not there if she chooses to... and dragging it on the ground is a good idea thanks.
