1 pup litter?

ok so at the end of Febuary i bred 2 of my unpapered catch dogs in hopes of some fresh blood and prospects...i wouldnt have bred unpapered dogs but i know how there bred and none leave my yard unless there going to a close friend who also knows how there bred and wants to hunt with them( I cull the undesireables)...

my question is have you ever heard of 1 pup litters?


I was starting to think she was having a false pregnancy as the bitch was filling up with milk but wasnt getting big like she did the last time i bred her..then yesterday morning i wake to whines in the whelping box and she has just 1 pup..

any wisdom or experience would be greatly appriciated..

 

My brothers boy sired a one pup litter, pup unfortunatly it died a few days later.
And then from there her sired a 5 pup litter all boys! very weird, hes thrown 2girls in 3 litters

Wait another day she might kick another out. As for unregistered dogs don't sweat it some of the best dogmen keep threre dogs like that...... Less paper trail.

 

I have only had it happen once, the pup died a week or so later.

Funny I was thinking a similar question. I have a female on my yard that was bred about 40 days ago, she dosent look very prego, but its hard to tell, her bags are sagging a lot but I dunno, Im thinking if she did take than its gonna be a small litter. Anybody have a bitch that dosent show very much.

 

Im sure it would be the same as any female, some are big heffas and some stay small, make sure you post pics of the puppies if she has any. PUPPIESS!!!

I know of an excellent gyp that only had on or two pups the first few times she was bred and last spring she had litter of 7 ,I was lucky to get one

 

Rising Stars Gr Ch Sparky was bred to Vise Grips Screamer and it produced one pup Vice grips Pantera.

 

wildsides hellraiser was the only pup in his litter if im not mistaken

One pup litters do happen and a lot more frequently than folks think.

But you need to make sure that she doesn't have anymore pups in there and the reason she isn't giving birth to them is because one is turned and blocking the rest of the litter from making their way out. Good way to not only kill the pups but the mother if you let this go on for to long.

If she is still showing signs of wanting to have more pups but nothing is happening then you need to get her to the vet as fast as you can so they can open her up and get the pups out.

Three weeks is still a long time to balloon up.

 

More than likely she is just the proud momma of the "Golden Pup" but still keep a watch to her and make sure everything is going the way it should.
