I agree with 14rock. The dog whose own owner is afraid of them. I groomed dogs for a time and there were some we couldn't touch without sedation. Not even for a bath and brush out. Chi's are not socialized usually that is why they are mean. Chows give no warning before attacking.

Most "ankle biters" are that way because their owners don't treat them like real dogs. They dress them up, baby them, and don't socialize them with anyone other than themselves. This is turn creates a shaking, biting mop of a dog.

I've met plenty of great Chi's (As well as Malts, mini poodles, etc.), and plan on owning one in the near future.

There are certain dogs, not just induvidual breeds, who I won't trust as all, no matter whose on the other end of the leash. My neighbors APBT bitch is poorly bred and never socialized outside of a core group of people. Now, hypothetically speaking, if that dog had "good owners" I would still be apprehensive of it (Of course, good owners would also have euthanized her for aggression by now).

  4. I dont trust herdinghounds(owtscharkas, kangals, for example) because they are most times one man dogs...and aggressive, protective. And I dont trust Rottweiler...because they are bred do catch humans, as an police and armee dog...but thats just my opinion...and 14 is right...the owner is always a importand point.

Vicious? My Rottweiler is anything but. Guard dog? Yes, she barks something awful. But other than that........

That about sums it up. I don't fear any breed of dog and I rather like quite a few. But any large strong dog in the wrong hands can be bad news.

  10. Sorry,I mean all other Rottweiler, of course not yours...;)...by the way...thats a realy nice Rottweiler, with a nice head (not much to heavy and big)and a good balanced body...this girl is in good shape!

I don't like chows and dalmatians. Neither of them give warning if they are going to bite. I have seen too many people bitten by chows.

The only breed I'm really nervous around are Jack Russels. If people think Pits are the only breed with an insane bite-to-weight ratio, they're confused. I had one hang off my hand for a while after trying to feed him. He didn't do too much damage, but I think that's because he didn't get a good hold on me. I don't like Kerry Blues much either. One got loose and attacked the groomer while he was walking through the boarding kennels. Tore his hand up pretty well. He couldn't use it for weeks. I suppose this is slightly off the subject, but what really makes me nervous is when i have to break up two cats that are fighting. The last time I did that I had an angry black tom attatched to my arm and trying to take off as much skin as he could. The thing about cats is that they use their mouth and both sets of claws. I use my foot to break up fight now, of any kind.

I hate Cocker Spaniels, got bit up by one bad. I had no idea they were that way, never again. I rather hang around my Pits.

The meanist dogs I've worked with have been chows and Lhasa Apso's. Lhasa's are usually pretty bad. I wouldn't go by breed, I go by the look on the dog's face. Those crazy eyes.

We had a Lhasa, I was about 5. Grandma sent me and my dog to my momma's for the weekend and somebody stole him or she sold him. I loved that dog.

I don't care for Chow Chows. I find them hard to read and have had a few bad experiences with them. (But I don't want to sound like a breedist, so I'll stop right there.)
