For me it's other way round mate, wish I'd concentrated more on money because if I'd built a stack instead of running around the whole UK like a 100 meter sprinter on acid, then I might have built something more permanent for the dogs instead of constantly moving and having to start all over again.. IMO it's fundamental for dogs to be raised in clean, secure & happy surroundings, something I utterly failed in at every level.

  4. Fuck man...i made me mill and now im skint!
if ide of focused more on dogs rather then robbing, selling drugs and guns ide be on your level.

If it is staying with the dog theme then I wish I had bred more of the good dogs I had access to for so many years.

In the grand scheme of things I wish I could go back to when I was 10-11 years old and when H. turned me onto these dogs I would kick him square in the nuts...and then ran....in context I'd 'run' to get away from the dogs. In reality, he would beat the shit out of me. LOL

Looking back if I had half the money that I tied up in dogs I'd retire a very rich man.

Mims/DTA's CH Charlie (4XW). From chain spot to putting in work to the show to the ability to the finish to the every thing....by far the best dog I have ever seen.

A Two Eyes/Snooty/Molly Bee bitch named Memphis. Maybe the baddest bitch I have ever seen but never made the first scratch. You come over here and that is your ass, stay over there and we are good.

Boone and Banks CH Li Man (4XW) maybe the hardest working dog I have ever seen. This dog could not be made to breathe. Every day I worked him I was scared I was killing him but he never flinched.

Woodlief's CH Angel. Most scatter bred bitch in the history of the dogs. Name a family and she had it. She would run and frolic on a river bank with yards dogs, play fight and wrestle. No issues. Walk across the threshold of a door and some inner switch flipped and she dealt death and from the bottom. A real betting man's dog.

A Bolio/Two Eyes male I once owned named Cornbread. Maybe the most devastating dog I have seen. The dog absolutely loved to compete and genuinely looked saddened/disappointed if another was taken off the chain. The best dog I ever owned.

That is the ones I have had my hands on but there are a ton more I had access to and went another direction.

    Babbling.

Li'Man was the hardest dog to get ready than any other I have ever seen. The more I allowed him to do the more he did and I just could not get him tried or to a point where he said that is enough for today.

His energy level and enthusiasm level was unending.

He was not my dog and I worked him for another. At the end I told them they could have their money back, or let me cover part of the pot, because I truly had no feel for where the dog was at in his conditioning, I told them he put in more work than anything I had ever seen but I simply did not know.

They called back and we did some good things together over the next few years.

And for whatever reasons, I never bred to him or bought anything off of him.

I can be a dumb ass like that.

If I could start over I probably wouldn't get into these dogs at all. I'd still have one but not a yard. While I have no regrets in keeping these dogs for over 20 years now, my entire adult life, I do at times regret the time it took me away from being able to do things with my family like travel. Now that my youngest is almost grown, I think about what I missed out on with my kids over the years more and more often these days.

I also don't enjoy having to constantly look over my shoulder. The dogs take up a ton of my time, money and energy that would have been better served spending on my family.

One thing I would change is the company I kept. I was told over and over not to mess around with the local crowd and of course I didn't listen. This led to a good one being stolen and unwanted attention from AC. Good news is it motivated me to get the heck out of Dodge.

I should double down on the 'company I kept'.

I was lucky enough to have a mentor who had conditions. If I wanted to be around him there were certain people/situations I had to avoid.

When I was 16-17 when my friends were riding around drinking, getting high and partying I was in a barn with a bunch of old dudes looking at dogs. I can remember telling my parents we were coon hunting til late in the night.

That click of guys were not drinkers or partyers. They were older, with families and jobs and dogs.

When there was a guy at a show who my mentor did not approve of he simply laid down the law.

It is funny, I kept good company until I was old enough to know better and then went the wrong way anyway. LOL

I would appreciate the hounds I started with and let go of while looking for better...same with the people. What and who I had in my Momma’s kitchen back then... or whose kitchen I sat in thinking they were a dime a dozen or nobody really........Let’s just say that in the thirty years since I’ve yet to come across more honest dogs or game people.
