I had a mut some time back that would just straight up attack someone if I wasn't around and they came in my yard .I wasn't sure if he would or not until one night I awoke to screams and yells and all I could make out was " go on dog " lol it was a local drunk looking for a ride home.I knew the guy and had to take him to the hospital to get stitches.Could have been worse had I taken the t time to put clothes on lol.

This dam mut looked like a black and tan hound but neither parent was black and tan.He had a wider chest than a Black and Tan and great stamina .I keep my Jack Russell's in a 6 ft chain link fenced in area .He could leap that fence flat footed and would play with the Jack Russell's .He chase them a while and they chase him and he loved it and when he got enough he would jump the fence lol.Smart , athletic and had stamina .Miss that dam dog lol..

He would touch the top of a fence on the way down just to break his fall.

Odds say he would not have engaged. But even better odds is that if he barks from inside, no one is coming in.

That is all I ask of my two shit eaters that live the good life for free....just bark like a maniac at the door. LOL

Those are the best dogs ever. Make them pure bred and give them a set of papers and things start onto that slippery slope.

God Bless the shit-eaters and sooners. My grand-ma said they 'sooner' be one thing as the other.

Agreed 100%, we do not live in the best of neighborhoods so we Encouraged his natural tendency to bark when people come at the door, so far it’s worked great! Just having him here that one time when someone tried to break in made that pay off! However what makes me think he may have bit is one time my wife was walking him when my daughter was a newborn and strangers approached and my wife said he lunged at them she pulled him away just in time. I wasn’t there though so she could’ve been exaggerating, but after that we don’t have strangers meet him at all anymore especially around our daughter.

    Again, great topic.

To be more in line with the intent of the original post.....comparing the two.

Tons of dogs will bite in defense of their family, their food, their territory, and even in defense of themselves.

Tons of dogs will fight in defense of their family, their food, their territory and even in defense of themselves.

The difference is something that should be so easy for the bulldog community to understand. It is about staying.

Dogs that are not bred to stay and trained to stay, simply will not stay.

Fortunately people, criminals to be exact, will stay even less than their canine counterparts. A dog barking at the door will cur 99% of all would be intruders. A single bite will cur just about 100% of all people. 99% of the dogs that will bite will not bite again or continue to bite when the intruder physically returns the pressure. They will not stay.

Tons of dogs will fight. Way less than 1% will stay.

It is breeding, selection and training that determine whether they will stay.

  13. Good point mate..
Ide stick my kneck out and say that most groups/breeds of dogs with a medium to high prey drive have been fought down the ages in different lands by different cultures...but witch groups/
breeds of them dogs have stood the real test of time???...real intreasting really as I belive many breeds of dogs can fight..some folk say it's unataral for a dog to fight-I do not share this believe..most breeds of dogs like to fight.....but none of them will stay to the bitter end.of course the odd freak will, but not in numbers...
I'm actually one of these stupid people that thought at one point in my sorry life that any dog can fight and especially any Bull type dog...And I proved my point to some degree(a mere fraction of a degree I might add)...it's like all this kengal rubbish-these dogs are only used more for fun rather then on a serious note when it comes to dog fighting..and they are only used by some Sheapards in some areas who keep these dogs for protecting sheep from wolves-by SOME!,,not by all.....wears Bulldogs are used all over the globe..and it's the same again-with the Bulldog as a man dog(please give me a slight digression here for mingling subjects-witch I apologise for!)there's no better breed or deterent or total beast then a big Bulldog what will eat a person..and I think one with the inclination to do so would stay as much as any other breed what's specialised to...but these are small numbers (thank god)...and over all they won't stay in the same sense as a Sheapard or Kengal won't stay in a dog fight....the saying dogs for jobs redily comes to mind.
    Soze.

My mutt isn’t in the top 1% of anything, that’s for sure! This is a great topic! I think one that cannot be had about most breeds.

I would think a little differently. I do not think many animals like to fight (humans included).

What separates the game animals is that they seem to enjoy, both winning and losing. That separation line is very gray at times but very distinct at others.

Why you can blow air on a semi-dead chicken and he gets up to return to his death can't really be explained. A dog that will kill another dog for no more reason than to do it, with his tail wagging, is also unexplicable.

The same lack of understanding can be applied to why a shit eating dog running loose will chase a car, get ran over and the first day he can move he chases the car all over again.

    Somethings we just marvel at.

Had a friend back in junior high school we all used to walk to school you have this one friend that has to show everybody how tough he is so he would jump the fence with the dog in the yard and when the dog charged after him he would kick the SHIT OUT of the dog and each day it would be a different yard. Well his luck run out one morning walking to school he decided to jump this fence this man had a German Shepherd in his yard when he went to kick this German Shepherd Game on Let's just say the Shepherd ripped him a new ass hole. that Old man had to come outside and get that Shepherd off of him. that broke him of jumping any fence and kicking anymore dogs.

  20. It sure is...but it seems like the little shit needed his arse ripped up.
Thing is tho the dog and owner would have got in shit...witch,giving the situation is pretty wrong...I mean you gotta be more then retarded to think you can do that to random dogs and not ever get chewed up...some disturbing people out there..were do some these kids get these fucked up ideas?...my kids ever do anything like that and I'll kick there arse for em..they best not ever disrespect dogs...I'm not saying they should show a interest in them (even tho ide like em to)-but they best respect them and understand them..they best no the inns and outs of them with me as there dad.
