Hellloooo all. I come by way of recommendation from a few on another forum that I am pretty active on. I'd consider myself an intermediate in the world of bulldogs. I know the dogs, their history, their tendencies, advocate for responsible ownership, know better than to think my blue nose tiger striped dog is some kind of "special pit bull", basic health & nutrition and yadda yadda yadda. My ex was a certified handler/trainer and so I know dog behavior and training. All that being said, I want to LEARN more. Where I come from, I've taken what I could and do a whole lot more contributing than I do learning. I want to learn more about peds and reading peds and immersing myself in all things pit dogs and their history.

I currently have two mutts, my Dynamic Duo, Kaos and Nala. They are red APBT mixed littermates coming in at 55lbs/17in and 52 lbs/15in respectively. They were rescued from some idiotic moron who decided to breed his mutts and it shows - more so in Nala than in Kaos. Kaos is growing into a good looking young man. Nala can be mildly cross-eyed with ALD in her right front leg but she is a spirited little girl with a ton of drive and personality. They both seem to have congenital kidney/urinary problems but we're working through it. I also have a larger bull mix, Ciara, who is with my ex. She's bigger, most likely AmBully mix, all white and my best friend.

I'm in SE PA and looking to relocate to someplace with less snow and more sun. Hoping I can contribute and learn in my comings and goings here!

Thanks! That's my Nala. She's a spirited young pup. Wish she had a better front because she would do good things in weight pull but I don't want to put the stress on her. If I could just put her back on him and give him some of her drive, he'd be really nice. He's a little straight in the rear and has slipping hocks. He also lacks her drive and confidence. She's a nasty little thing though and he gets the brunt of it in their play! Ciara is an old girl, almost 10 so she's lost the ability but not the drive. I hate watching her age as the pups mature :(. Would LOVE to get my hands on a working game dog and was approved to purchase but I'm too damn old getting into the working dog world and now that my ex and I split don't have the property or means to support a game dog. Sucks but I'm not going to do that to a dog.

Have you ever had a game-dog?

Not a true one. Just mixed APBT mutts. I was about to get one but I split with my ex and am now in no position and won’t do that to a dog. I hope someday but I ain’t no spring chicken.

So the answer is no. Now how can anyone who has never had something be intermediate in it? I know you are really into these dogs like the rest of us, but realize where you are at in your journey. Not trying to criticize, just trying to help.

Point taken. My “intermediate” thoughts stemmed from the fact that, in my mind, that I know enough about these dogs and dogs in general that I’m not some dog mommy off the street that doesn’t know shit about anything. I can train any dog and know how to properly care for them. I know the history and can talk the talk. I realize I don’t have first hand experience with handling a true game-dog and to some that means I know nothing. To each their own.

That being said. I know what I know but I also know what I don’t know. I’m not afraid to ask questions when I don’t know or am unsure, am always open to different schools of though and ideas, and I know I still have A LOT to learn. That’s what brought me here to begin with.

It takes one to know one, you are a beginner with game dogs as am I!

Welcome. Great place to learn and mingle.
Glad to see it becoming more active here.
Always good reading. Also the search function can turn up some real solid info specific to the subject you want to find.
Good lookin bunch. The 2 red ones look much alike.

    Enjoy your journey.

RESPECT to you lady. I hate people who breed for fun or cash. And I am glad that some good people take care of the dogs no one wants.

Thank you! I'm a regular on another forum but do more advising than learning and am thirsty for knowledge so here I am. I love reading the true game-dog stories and history and do a lot of reading. I'll chime in here and there but am enjoying reading through a lot of the posts, both new and old.

My two reds are littermates. Brother and sister - hence why they look so much alike!

Thank you! I love my mutts. They may not be true bulldogs or game-bred but they're mine and they are well cared for if I do say so myself. Don't get me wrong, they are not babied or treated like humans by any stretch of the imagination but they are trained, well-fed, and cared for properly. I'm VERY anti-BYB and believe no one should be breeding, regardless of breed, unless it's to BETTER the breed. I want to relocate and get me a game dog some day when I have the room and resources. Until then, I'll get my learn on and me and the mutts do just fine.

    Welcome.

    Lots of knowledge here.

Regardless of who or where you are in these dogs, there is always lots to learn.

When a person is happy with their dogs that is the only real measure of success.
